Dr. Alazard or Dr. Mische at St. Rose Pediatrics. I LOVE THEM!! I would travel clear across town if I had to because I haven't found anyone I like better! Best thing about it is that both my kids (4 & 1.5) love them!!
I live in southwest las vegas and have a HMO medical plan with Health Plan of Nevada. Can anyone recommend a good pediatrician close by? I've been to 2 different pediatrican and have been unhappy with both. I'm looking for someone with good bedside manners that takes time to explain and listen to questions and does not dismiss my concerns. It's also really important that they have a good nursing staff that returns my messages within the day (not a week later or after many phones calls). It's been so hard to find a good pediatrician...I'm being to wonder about the Las Vegas medical system. I have 2 children (1 year old and infant) and I want someone who we can use for many many years.

Hello G.
I have a great place where I take my two babies - Fremont Childrens Medical Clinic by Durango and Russell. I usually go to Dr Dani, however, Dr Miller is fantastic as well. Both played a part in caring for my premee while in the hospital and continuing on until now. Patient, explains everything, etc. And their office is run really well. The nurses call back within hours. They have urgent care Mon-Fri 7am to 8am so you can go without an appt. Good luck as I know how frustating finding a good doc is.
Hi G.. I think we are in the SW (Anthem area). We have been here just a couple of years and have had the same problem. I moved here from a very small town and had very personalized service so it was very different. I am currently seeing Rosemary Hyunn at St. Rose peds and she is pretty good. I have had trouble with them in the past but lately it has been going well. I am considering switching to a ped called Dr. Carey (not sure of the spelling on that). She is lcated on Sunridge Heights Parkway and I have heard such good things and the main person talking her up is a very demanding person. Anyway, she is located on Sunridge Heights Pkwy next to A WOman's Place ob/gyn (which is awesome btw). Send me an email if you need more info, as I will have to get it for you! ____@____.com
I take my babies to St. Rose Pediatrics...and have so far loved the doctors there. Their phone number is ###-###-####
I have a great pediatrician. I am taken seriously and not dismissed. My questions are answered promptly and they take time when they come in the room to see you, NOT rush out, when I have called the nurse, I am called back promptly and timely.
There are two that have teamed up-Dr Carrie and Dr Jim Mcghee. I have had all three DR's on call too, they are just as fabulous. They have moved to a new location behind Carrabas grill and the Women's specialty car obgyn. They are on Siena Heights. Near the St Rose Hospital Siena Campus. But they work with all the St Rose campuses, and I think one or 2 others.
I can't remember the address, but here is the phone # ###-###-####, then either Carmella or Candice can help you. They are WONDERFUL! They have been with me since I had our 4th(aUgust of '07) child and are still with me with our 5th newest baby 7 weeks old. I moved pediatricians when we moved from in town to southern highlands. Tell them you were referred by me-D. Y..
Best wishes!
We use Dr Moore with Foothills Pediatric. I have seen other Dr's in the practice and don't really love any of the other ones but Dr Moore is wonderful. He respects my wishes as a parent as far as my son's treatment goes. He's very casual so he doesn't seem too 'big scary doctor' to the little ones. I don't have to wait in the waiting room for ever and I can always get a same day appointment. He respects our family's vaccine schedule and doesn't make you feel like you are failing as a mother because your kid eats too many cookies or like my son will only brush a couple of teeth! He is just very realistic about the Mothering job overall. The office number is ###-###-####. It isn't the direct number so you have to tell them you want DR Moore or the Ft Apache office. He's on Ft Apache near Russell.
Hi G.,
I agree, Vegas is difficult when it comes to peds. The problem is that A LOT of them do not except HMO's. I know this because my husband lost his job when I was pregnant with my son two years ago and we had to have an HMO and many of the doctors just didn't accept it. Luckily, we were only on the HMO for a few months and eventually were back on a PPO. I have seen Dr. Carrie Wijesinghe since my daughter was born almost 5 years go. However, I think she only now accepts PPO...but it can't hurt to try. As Nicole G. said below, she is GREAT...listens, good bedside manner, etc. While Dr. Carrie was setting up her new practice, I had to go to Rosemary Hyunn...she was okay...but definitely lacking in conversation and bedside manner. I had a lot of problems with her practice at St. Rose Peds as well. Anyway, Dr. Carrie just moved and here is her new info.:

Good Luck.

The Fremont Childrens Clinic has a great group of Doc's. Dr. Diane Goebel is great there but she only works part time.
D.
We also have HMO with Health Plan of Nevada and see Dr. Julie Tuggle with Southwest Medical Associates, who is the BEST doctor I have ever seen period! She was recommended to us and is definitely worth the drive (near 95 and Cheyenne, off Tenaya). We live in Henderson and make the drive because we saw 2 different doctors at Foothills Pediatrics and were very unhappy with the office and doctors. What a difference!!!!
Dr. Tuggle is so good with my 15 month old daughter and explains everything thoroughly. My daughter gets a new book each visit and really enjoys seeing her actually. I always go with a written list of questions and she is great about answering all of them and even answers most of the questions before I get a chance to ask, that's how thorough she is!!
The couple of times I have called with questions, the staff gets back within hours and they are also great in person. They wait is never long. I really cannot say enough positives about Dr. Tuggle or Southwest Medical Assoc.
I've been happy with the service I get at St. Rose Pediatrics. All the doctors there are very nice.
I'm not positive about which insurances she takes, but my son sees Dr. Stephen at Southern Hills Pediatrics (http://www.shpediatrics.com). She has always been willing to take as much time as needed to answer my questions and reassure my fears. She's available seven days a week, which I find reassuring. I've never had to call with any urgent concerns (yet), but when I've called with a question, if the nursing staff can't immediately answer (which they usually can) I get a call back within an hour or two. I've been quite happy both with the doctor herself, and with her staff.
We go to Dr. Susan Fernandez in Henderson. Off Eastern & Horizon Ridge.
I am another mom who loves Dr. Carrie Wijesinghe. Dr. McGhee is great as well. When we first moved here, I also went to Foothill Pediatrics and saw Dr. Conti because I heard he was the best. I did like him, but I felt rushed and we had to wait at least an hour each visit. Dr. Carrie really listens and takes her time. After having my son a year ago, I was really worried about vaccinations and autism. She sat with us and we came up with a schedule that spaces out shots- she is so great about it. Good Luck!!!
G.,
I don't know if they are on your insurance but I go to Dr. Moore at Foothills Pediatrics. They have an office on that side of town. I like him very much. He's very nice, he takes time with you, listens to you and he doesn't over book. I've never had an excessively long wait at his office. I've also seen other pediatricans in this practice at the other offices (they have evening and weekend hours which is really nice) and I've liked most of them.

I know you already have a bunch of recommendations and I know you want someone close to the SW side of town, but I wanted to share with you anyway. Dr. Levin is amazing!!! His office is open 7 days a week so you never have to go to Quick Care if your little ones get sick. He shares his practice with another doctor and they each take turns with the weekends. They have a well side and a sick side so you go in different doors depending on why you are there. There is a wall that divides the place that way the healthy children are never exposed to the sick ones. When your kiddos get sick, you just make an appointment for later that day and you never have to wait while your child isn't feeling well. Actually, you never have to wait period. Dr. Levin blocks his appointments in half hour increments so you get in on time and you never feel rushed. You also get a handout every time you go, telling you what to expect from your child at their age. Everytime I have ever called the office the nurses either answer my questions, get back to me within an hour or two or get the doctor to call back if needed. My daughter fell once and I was really freaked out, he got on the phone immediately and was wonderful. I would drive any distance to go to this office!!! I don't know if he takes your insurance, you can certainly call to find out, I know he takes most of them. We have Culinary insurance, which he doesn't accept and we still go to him. He cuts the bill in half and charges us $60 a visit, which includes all shots. We could go somewhere else and have a $14 co-pay, but don't think it's worth it. Just thought I would share.

I'm sure you found a pediatrician by now but just in case. I take my children to Dr. John Lepore at Kidfixers Pediatrics. His office is at the Summerlin Hospital Medical Center. He has been our pediatrician since day one and I thank God we found him. When my son was about 5 months old (now 4 years) we were in California visiting family. My son started running a high fever on a Saturday night. I called Dr. Lepore and told him we were doing Tylenol and it wasn't going down. He said watch it overnight and call him in the AM. Of course if it got higher got to ER. We ended up driving home. Called the Dr. in the AM (Sunday). Fever wasn't changing. He met us in the office in his gym clothes on Sunday morning. After seeing my son, he assured us it was Roseola. Sure enough, Monday the fever broke and he had a rash head to toe. Dr. Lepore is great. He takes his time to get to know all his patients. He truly cares about the kids. His number is 765-KIDS(5437). Tell him the Pastora's sent you.
