Hi K.: My son was eating solids at the same time. I started by giving him cereal and applesauce when he was hungry...usually breakfast, lunch and dinner...but i would only do one fruit at a time just in case he is allergic to anything you will know what it is!! Good luck!!

Hi K.,

my son is the same age and i started him with oatmeal in the morning and i use oatmeal because rice can be binding. he gets fruit at lunch, try one fruit at a time for about 3 or 4 days and then you can switch to another one that is to ensure there is no allergy to the fruit and then oatmeal for dinner. once he has tried all the stage 1 fruit you can start introducing stage one veggies. I know give my son a little oatmeal at dinner and a little veggies. be patient introducing this stuff is going to be tough my son still has a hard time eating off a spoon. Hope this helps and feel free to write me if you have any other questions on feeding since i'm going through this now.

Hi K. -
My son also began solids around that time. I started with rice cereal and oatmeal and stuck with just those til he was about five months old at which time I started introducing other foods such as avocado, sweet potato, banana, etc. You should only introduce a new food every 3-4 days to look out for allergic reactions. I also only did 2 meals a day (breakfast and dinner) up until about 8 months. There is a great book titled "Super Baby Foods" that I found very helpful in determining what foods my son could start at various ages. Hope this helps.

Yeah start one food at a time. oatmeal is the best to start and after about a month you can start adding some fruit, apple is an easy one also. make sure you take your time that way if a certain food bothers him you'll know which one it is. Good luck!
