A.K.
My 2nd baby didn't drop until my water broke. With my 4th , she was always very low & I felt pressure from early in the 3rd trimester. TMI Alert: so much pressure that having problems w/ my bowels. So, you never know.
I am 37 weeks and 4 days today. I woke up with extreme pressure in my bum like I needed to go #2, but couldn't. This normally is a sign of labor, but I am a bit concerned because baby is still sitting up high and causing me extreme pain in my kidney/gall bladder area. Can the early signs on labor still happen even if baby hasn't dropped yet? I do go for my weekly apt tomorrow afternoon. Just wondering what you other mama's think.

Sounds like your body is getting ready. Maybe you'll wake tomorrow and the baby will have dropped? With my third, the process came on fast, but it took her a day or so before actual labor kicked in. I had some back pain, the next morning she had dropped. I couldn't walk! It was all so painful.
Is baby facing the right direction? If not, the pressue might be baby trying to drop. My first came out backwards, and man does back labor suck.

My firstborn didn't go head down or drop until 39w1d. I had been having BH contractions and other "getting ready" signs since week 36.
My secondborn was head down early but never dropped and I didn't have any pre-labor signs. I went from nothing to spontaneous water breaking at 41w3d, and then labor began.
Sounds like this isn't your first child? If so, the baby does not "drop" in subsequent pregnancies.
You might be getting close to go time! :)
