3 Yr Old Snoring

Our 3 yr old daughter is snoring like crazy lately ! She was ill with a flu a month ago & it lasted 1 week. We first noticed the snoring then.
Well, it's been 3 weeks since she's gotten over her flu & she is still snoring...We are concerned & wondering what's wrong.
1) Could she have allergies? Has anyone had their child tested? What does it entail & cost? (we do have insurance)
2) My husband has sleep apnea and has to sleep with a C-Pap machine. This is due to his being overweight, though. Our daughter is NOT overweight & in fact, is only in the 25% for weight. Could apnea be hereditary? Could she possibly need a surgery to correct this issue?
My husband & I are very aware that this type of snoring (LOUD - LINGERING - SOMETIMES GAGGING) is not healthy for her development & we are becoming very concerned.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated - Thanks, Mamas !

have the dr check her out for sinus congestion lingering as a result of the flu.

Have you looked at her tonsils? Is the uvula swollen? Are you using a humidifier?

I would not worry about sleep apnea at this early of an age....if anything, I'd think it would be the adenoids which the dr will also check out!

I don't think apnea at this age either. I wonder if she has a sinus infection left over from the flu. If she never had allergy problems before, that would be my best guess. Take her to see her pedi. and see what he/she says. She just might need antibiotics.

When my son snored, he actually stopped breathing for a second or two. Turns out he had enlarged tonsils and had them removed (along with his adnoids. I would start at the pediatrician, then possibly see an ENT or an allergist. Allergy testing at this age is relatively easy, but a little painful.

When our daughter did this as a youngster, she had large tonsils and very large adnoids and had to have them removed. We did this when she was 6 or 7. It was a day surgery and it made all the difference for her....left a whole bunch of room in her throat that wasn't there before. Have them check that out.
