I don't remember with my other two pregnancies back pain. However, I did take myself to the hospital last Thursday because of a back pain that came and went for the entire day and it was "Braxton Hicks". however my doctor received the report and thought they were too strong to be braxton hicks and possibly contractions. I have a 22 month old that keeps me on my feet literally and is heavy. he weighs about 27 pounds. so I still have the back pain not as often as last Thursday but it can get a bit uncomfortable. Any advice on how to ease this back pain? do the belts really work? or maybe heating pads. I'd apprecaite the advice.

Thanks ladies.

What can I do next?

I had a lot of back pain with my 3rd child. It's how the baby is positioned inside, it's also the added weight (baby, extra fluids associated with pregnancy). I found that the only thing that helped was to lie on my left side. With you having a toddler to care for, I can imagine how difficult it must be to rest. I understand. I have 3 children and was quite active after my first. Do your best, rest when you can. I found that walking made it worse so I sat down a lot when given the chance.

Let me first say....Heating pads are awesome. I know how ya feel :)
My son is almost 2 and weighs 30-31lbs. He takes after his daddy...built like a MAN lol

Anyway I'm also 35 wks preggo. So the back pain..I KNOW IT.
Advice, heating pads, massage * you can actually get a professional one, just go to someone who knows about pregnancy massage* or have your s/o do it.
Um otherwise try little stretches throughout the day. Sit on the floor, legs spread and lean one way or the other. ONLY as far as you are comfortable.
Tylenol, if you want to take the medical route.

Experiment with different sleeping positions. Perhaps you may want to invest in a pregnancy support pillow, but be certain to keep a pillow between your legs while laying on your side (not just your knees. All the way down to the ankles.)

Also, invest in a good prenatal massage. Enjoy it, but try to remain coherent enough to take mental notes. When you get home, teach your s/o the massage techniques that really helped alleviate the tension in your major pain areas.

Also, a low-impact prenatal yoga video may help. Some of the poses provide some really good back-relief. Just take it easy.

Good luck to you.

Braxton Hicks means that your calcium isn't getting into the tissue- one of the add hot water calcium- mag nesiun works well, and had my sister's braxton hicks gone is a day. Also essential fatty acids are needed to get the ca into the tissue.
Check with the International Chiropractic Pediatric Assn for a doc to help have everything lined up properly to be comfortable. Very important now as hormones start to make everything lose- so important to keep the bones of you pelvis lined up, not only for your comfort, but also so that your baby has the best delivery.
best, k

Buy a very supportive nursing bra (a sports bra might also do the trick - I'm not sure) to sleep in. This will help keep everything aligned while you sleep. Also, consider massage or acupuncture. I have friends who SWEAR by acupuncture for pregnancy back pains, and it might be easier to find than you know. Our local hospital offers it in the Holistic Health department. Good luck. I had pretty terrible back pains during my first pregnancy. Good luck.
