I'm 21 weeks pregnant and for the last few weeks I have felt my little boy kick up a storm. The last 2 days I haven't felt much of anything. A few times that I drank ice water or OJ and laid on my side, I did feel a few kicks. But before it was all day and really strong. I called the Dr. and she said that I shouldn't be worried at all and that I won't feel kicks everyday, but that I can come in to hear the heart beat if it will make me feel better (which I am going to do). But I don't know, i'm really nervous about it. Have any of you been through this? was everything ok? They can't do a NST till I am 28 weeks. The Dr. almost laughed when I called so concerned and maybe I am just being paranoid. What do you think?

What can I do next?

Go in to hear the heartbeat to make yourself feel better, for sure. I would!

Also, I remember feeling the same way around the same time with my last one...super active baby is all of a sudden not so active. Just give him time, and I am sure he'll be beating you black and blue in no time! :)

Do go hear the heartbeat, but don't panic. I've had 4 pregnancies, and I remember having days where I hardly felt any movement.
Congratulations on your pregnancy!

I am about 23 weeks. About a week ago, I really didn't feel anything for a few days. She is now tap dancing again. :) Do go listen for the heartbeat and put your mind at ease; but, I am sure your baby has either moved or changed a sleeping/activity pattern. :)

I disagree, if you are not comfortable with how much your little one is moving then I would go to the doc's office or ER and let them monitor you. This would have freaked me out too. Better safe than sorry.

As your pregnancy progresses, there is less room for baby and you will not feel your baby move as much. I remember this with mine and I too got worried until a co-worker eased my mind too. I rented a Doppler for a monthly cost of about $20. If you can afford that, and you think it will ease your mind, by all means rent one. I loved having it. I could hear my daughter's heartbeat at any time and it was so awesome to just lay on my bed and hear her. I used "Dynamic Doppler" ..you can google it if you want. Other than that, please try to stay calm. As long as you see your Dr regularly and you are told things are going well, then great...BUT NEVER feel badly for calling your Dr's office with ANY CONCERNS...and if your Dr made you feel foolish then SHAME ON HIM!! And you need to tell him so. You need to tell him that you need a Dr who understands all of your concerns will treat you with understanding and respect. And you will not be made to feel badly about ANY question or concern.
Good Luck and God Bless with the new baby.
I hope all goes well...and I'm sure they will.

You are not paranoid, is your baby and you love him/her and care for him/her.
That happen to me too, with the 2 of my pregnancies.
Maybe babies have lazy days too, lol. Or they move more when they hit a grow sprout and rest a little in between, I don't know.
But if you are worry I would go to the doctor, I bet a million they are use to that.

Listen to your gut. I don't want to scare you, but I stopped feeling my little one move at 35 weeks. So many people told me not to worry (with good intentions) but even after going for fetal monitoring, I knew something was not right. When I went in a day later, her heartbeat dropped and I ended up with a Crash C-section (super emergency and quick). She had several complications and if I had not gone in, she would have been still born. Fastforward to today: she is a fabulously smart and healthy 3 year old BUT if I hadn't trusted my instincts, things could have gone VERY wrong. Never feel like you are overreacting! And keep us posted! That's just my story in a very small nutshell, so please write to me if you'd like to talk more :-)

what you can do to ease your mind is rent a fetal Doppler. I did b/c I had a problem that I need to be reassured. I found it in a pregnancy magazine and I used it with my pregnancies. It will calm you knowing that you hear it. It did for me and I was a high risk. Just something to think about.

I would just go in and hear beat. Being so late in pregnancy, you're going to be fine. Just for peace of mind...I am 27 weeks and also a wreck over things. I jsut went today b/c i thought i may be leaking fluid. Turns out it's just cervical mucus...but I felt SO MUCH better knowing. Although I "knew" i was fine, it felt better hearing it. Now I can sleep. You can always just call that day and say you've felt "pain" and they'll get ya in! Then when you're in, you can just hear heartbeat. ( I don't always lie!) Don't feel silly. Pregs have to stick together b/c we are prob all scared!!! God BLESS!

Hi Erin,
The same thing happened to me while I was pregnant. Everything you read says that you'll feel the baby kick and you should count between kicks, etc. and I would feel him kick and then go hours on end without anything! Everything was perfectly fine. Please don't worry. You can make yourself go crazy with every little thing and that's what I did and all for nothing. I was still working while I was pregnant and when I told some of the women at work that I wasn't feeling the baby kick as much they all said the same thing happened to them and everything was fine. The more you hear it from experienced people, the better! My son was very active while I was pregnant with him. Every sonogram showed him flipping and tossing and kicking all around so of course I got worried when a day or two would go by without anything. It was all just fine and NORMAL. I hope this makes you feel better! Good luck with your pregnancy and congratulations!
