2 Year Old Wetting the Bed

I know it's normal for a 2 year old to wet the bed, but my daughter isn't even in underwear yet. Before she goes to sleep for both bedtime and nap time she takes off her diaper. If she's in a sleeper she takes that off, if she's in a onesie she takes the diaper off out from underneath the onesie then pees in her bed. Recently this has been happening 2 times a day and I'm having a really hard time keeping up with the laundry and 2 baths a day. I know it must be time to potty train but my daughter also doesn't really indicate when she is about to go in her diaper so I don't know if she's ready. Has anyone experienced anything similar? At this point any advice will help. Thanks!

So What Happened?

Thank you for all of the wonderful advice! I went with masking tape, and it is working perfectly for now. When she woke up from her nap the other day I rushed in, checked her diaper (it was dry) and was able to get her to the potty in time to pee for her first time in the potty! I have a feeling that she will figure out the masking tape soon, so that's when I will utilize some of the other ideas. Thank you again!

Try putting her diaper on backwards. You can buy diaper covers (for cloth diapers) and fasten them or pin them in the back if she can still get her disposable one off. Having pushed potty training and suffered the consequences, I would recommend waiting until she shows readiness- though I consider myself a training flunkie and maybe others with better success can advise you there.

If she's taking the diaper off before she sleeps, she's probably doing it because she doesn't want to sleep in a wet diaper. I think it's time to potty train. next time before putting her down, take the diaper off, set her on the toilet and see if she goes.

Have you tried the diaper on backwards or put the sleeper/onesie on backwards to make it difficult to remove?
She has fabulous undressing skills for 2!

Have you asked her if she wants to try the potty? When you first start potty training, they usually can't tell you if they have to go, you just take them every 45 minutes or so, and something eventually clicks.

My daughter also did this. I finally bought 2 jumpers that she could not get out of. Then on top, I put a jacket on her backwards, zipped up the back. This prevented her from getting to her diaper. She slept like this. Before this, she would take everything off . . . .

Is sleep time the only time she's pulling off her diaper? If not, then I would question whether the diaper is bothering her in some way.
Other than that, all I can suggest is that you might try to introduce potty training and see if she seems ready. If, after a couple of days, she obviously isn't, just tell her it's ok and that you'll try it again later...
As for the problem of laundry.... unless she moves around a lot in her sleep... you may be able to make up a smaller waterproof pad system to put under her, so that all you have to launder is a small sheet or blanket and her bedclothes each time. A towel over a large piece of plastic material might even work...
My guess is that this is a pretty temporary problem. I know it's frustrating for you now, but if you can keep in perspective that it's not going to be forever, that may help you get through it.

Try the zip up pjs with the feet and put them on backwards.

Masking tape or duct tape usually helps. It's funny the first time, but it gets old fast.
