Ladies, please help me! My husband wants to take me out to a NICE dinner for our anniversary. He mentioned Ruth Christ. I have never been, but I cant bring myself to pay that amt. for a steak when I am not a BIG steak eater. He has now left the decision up to me. I dont make resturant decisions well so I am looking for some help. Is there a certain resturant that you and your love have been that you would recommend?

What can I do next?

Instead of going somewhere expensive and fancy, maybe go somewhere you used to go on dates, even if that means the hot dog stand at the putt putt golf place :) For my anniversary, I plan on asking the hubs if we can go to this little hold in the wall bar, Metro Grill, because that's where we went for our official first date :)

If it's more in your nature to be FUN, not dressed to the 9's, go with it! Be YOU; you'll be much more comfortable :)

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY ! ! !

Rachel d. has the right idea.

I don't remember where we went for our second anniversary, but it was a small, intimate restaurant recommended by friends. You know what you and your husband like to eat, pick a restaurant that does that well and has the reviews to support it.

Something my wife and I have done lately is consult "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" (a TV show on the food channel) for restaurants they have reviewed. They have always been great.

Good luck to you and yours.

For our first date we went to TGIFridays. When my hubby asked me to marry him, we went to TGIFridays. For our first anniversary, we went to TGIFridays. I am very sentimental.
As far as Ruth Chris, if you are not a steak fan then go to a great seafood place. I'm sure you have quite a few good places that you could hit up around you.

My husband and I do not go to fancy dinners often, but we do splurge one time a year on our anniversary......and generally we go to Ruth's Chris. It is most definitely pricey, but like I said we are comfortable doing it once a year. I can tell you that they do have a lot of other choices on their menu besides steak and they are usually excellent. So, if the price wasn't your main concern, but rather spending it on steak specifically, I wouldn't worry about that.

If price if your concern, then just pick a place that has sentimental meaning to you both, or a moderately priced restaurant that you've never gone to but wanted to try and take a chance. The most important thing is just spending the time together! Happy Anniversary!

Ruth's Chris is a very good restaurant, but the price is crazy.

Here's my idea:

Go to the store and use 1/4 of that money to buy two excellent porterhouse steaks, wine, some veggies, easy-light charcoal, and goodies for a picnic. Take it all to the nicest park you can find on your local parks and rec or state parks website. Go for a hike on the trails, hand in hand, or visit the beach. Grill your steaks and sit together, enjoying your meal in solace and talking about how far you've come in two years. Exchange gifts. Do *ahem!* other stuff.

Restaurants aren't all that romantic. Figure out how romantic YOU can be.

Ok, so I think you could compromise in this situation. He wants to take you to a nice restaurant-I would absolutely go with it. Since most meals are usually larger portion sizes at restaurants anyway, why not just go to Ruth's Chris and order one plate and sit next to each other and split it. There might be a plate that is both Steak and Seafood or something like that. Look at their menu online to get an idea. Depending on price of desserts or wine, you could decide if you want to do that or not. You have choices. Enjoy each other's company-whatever you do. Happy Anniversary!

we are celebrating our 2nd year soon too! (on the 25th) The 2nd is not a huge anniversary and honestly just getting out just the two of us is really special at this point. So are going to Outback steakhouse. I am not a big steak eater either but when we do something I usually get to pick, so this time I picked somewhere i know my hubby wants to go, and afterwards we are stopping by one of my fav stores (old time pottery...I love it) so it will be fin for both of us.
