I don't want to use the store bought stuff anymore. It doesn't seem to work. We have battled this for a few months and nothing seems to work. We even bought her a new bed, mattress, and bedding. Any suggestions? As you all know, you can't get a 2 year old to sit long enough to pick those eggs out. Thanks in advance.

What can I do next?

Hi A.,

Try using Olive Oil on her hair, just put it in and leave it on for 1/2 hour or so. You should notice a big difference. Times may vary, but I would try 1/2 hour first. You can put a bag, like the kind used to color hair, over her hair if it drips or bothers her. I've heard the Olive Oil smoothers them!

Good luck,

I have never had the experience but I've heard that you need to clean everything. The carpet, stuffed animals, pets, bike helmets, hats, hair brushes ....everything. Because the lice lay eggs and they hatch a few weeks later and then you're staring all over again, so maybe you should schedule a carpet cleaning twice. Once now, once in 3 weeks.

I use TLC Carpet cleaning and they are wonderful. ###-###-####

As far as other treatments.... you can find them on-line if you do a google search on "lice treatment" and I've heard mayonaise works if you put the hair in a shower cap.

But don't bother till you can coordinate the house cleaning.

If you had a boy you could shave his head.... but that probably wouldn't look good on a girl.

There is an organic shampoo called Thera Neem that works. It does not say anywhere on the bottle that it is for lice, but it works. They sell it at Sprouts in Flower Mound. You might try the health food store in Denton. Ask the nutritionist, they always have great advice for alternative treatments.

Good Luck!

Tracie O is right. I've had lots of experience with lice as a former day care worker and teacher...and unfortunately, some personal experience as well. You must clean everything!! You even have to clean in your car...especially if you have car seats that aren't leather. Stuffed animals, pillows (not only the cases, everything that is made of fabric,...

Hope everything works out!!!
