Hello fellow mommies,
I have a question for some of you. I am two days late and I have taken 2 pregnancy tests and got a negative result for both. I have been pregnant before and right now I do not have any of the symptoms of being pregnant. I did also recently (September time frame) switch my birth control because I was on Yaz and that was causing me to have 2 periods each month for about 3 months. Any advice or thoughts are welcome!

So What Happened?

happened to me and i was two months late and i took two different brands of tests. it may be too early to tell anyway but if you are really itching to find out, go get a blood test or urine test a the doctor's office..they'll find out for ya!

I think only a blood test can tell that early. Mine were negative until I was about 2 weeks late. LOL So I guess I am saying you would not be able to tell yet.

Stress, lack of sleep, change in location, change in eating, change in birth control, etc. All of these things can make your period late. A couple of days is nothing to worry about, even if you've been 28-day regular your whole life.

That said, when I was TRYING to get pregnant, I tested negative for a week before I finally got a positive test. The hormone that triggers a positive result is sometimes very low in the beginning, and that's normal.

If you haven't started your period and you REALLY think you're pregnant (and you can't wait a week to find out) you should go to the doctor's office and get a blood test (actually 2). They will establish the base level of the pregnancy hormone with the first test, and then compare the second test (taken days later) with the first test. If the hormone has increased, you're pregnant.

My guess is that if you just relax and stop stressing you'll get your period. Good luck to you!

Hi D.,
First and foremost, I just want to say thank you to both you and your husband for your active duty in the Navy. I am grateful to you for your time and commitment, truly.
Second, if you are only a couple of days late, don't worry, especially if you just switched bc. I had the same problem with a different bc and was having 2 periods/month (truly annoying, isn't it?). I switched bc and every once in a while am a day or two late. Now, if you're a week late, and the tests still show negative, I'd just call your OB and find out what they recommend.
Have a fabulous week! Good luck!
Expect the best,
L. =0)

As you get older your periods will change. I went from 28 days to 25 days. Then I started 28 days once a year and 30 days once a year. Now it comes whenever it wants (I'm 47 now). Also, changes in medication, stress and other things can cause you to be late. This could just be your body reacting to your change of birth control medicine or it could be your body normally readjusting. If you've always been pretty regular it will probably come in the next day or so. My doctor said that as long as it was basically once a month, it was normal - whether it was 25 days or 30 days.

Hope this helps! Good luck.

i'd give it a few days longer and then re-test. Stress or any hormonal changes can affect your cycle and when it is supposed to come along. The birth control pill is a whopper of drug.
