Hi... my daughter Emma will be turning 1 on March 3rd. I am trying to plan a party for her, but I'm totally at a loss. There would be about 20 adults and 14 kids (ages range from 18 months to 7 years old)... so I'm looking to have it outside my house, with food and some kind of fun activites for the kids. I know at 1 Emma will not really care what we do... but what to do for the other kids is what is killing me plus to keep it safe for Emma and the younger kids. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

I just posted the same question yesterday and unfortunately have only gotten two responses. Both of them suggested that I look into my park district. Wish I could give you some other ideas but I'm at a loss for ideas myself. Good luck!

The Elk Grove Park District is a great suggestion but I already checked into that for our own party and they are completely booked on the weekends for February, March & April except for March 17th from 6:30-8:30 which was a little late for us. It's a fun place to go and play though. It's called Jumps 'N Jiggles.

I had my son's first birthday at Rainforest Cafe. Lots to look at for little ones and big ones.

Hi K.,

I had the same problem for my little one's first birthday party! We had a big party for our twins when they were one and still wanted to do something for their younger brother. I did some research and found Nibbles Play Cafe in Wheeling, IL. It is a super cute place and absolutely perfect for a one year old birthday party. They specialize in one year old parties too!

I had really stressed about it and had no reason. They knew how to keep the party going at my son's pace, keep the kids entertained and even the adults kept saying how wonderful it was that they could talk and not worry about the kids.

Take a look at their website at www.nibblesplaycafe.com
Kathleen is the owner and is really amazing! She will set you up with what you need and their pricing is very reasonable. They make their own food or you can just order pizza if your budget is lower like ours was.

Here are some photos from my son's party if you want to see how fun it was for him!

We went to a first birthday party in Elk Grove Village at their park district that has a famous carousel and other things for the kids to play on. They catered food in. check it out:

Just went to my cousin's kids 1st birthday party in December and they rented a hall and had food catered in (even had chicken nuggets for kids). They had a craft table for kids with different winter crafts from oriental trading, crayons, paper, stickers, etc... The table really kept the kids entertained. I rented out a space through my park district for both my kids and got pizzas and stuff. Wish I would have thought of the craft table for mine. Good luck with the planning :)
