I just had my daughters Sweet 16 and she loved it. We had it at the American Legion Hall which has a full kitchen to keep food warm or cold. We had a DJ and decorated with balloons on just 2 chairs at each table. Her aunt did fruit kabobs and fruit trays along with chicken wings. We also had bags of flammin hots and doritos, cheese and taco meat. The kids enjoyed. I did punch in one of those igloo coolers and water in the 2 gallon jug that stands and dispenses the water. I just didn't want to see all those half full cans of pop and water so it was easier to do cups of punch or water. Her colors were blue and green and at party city had everything I needed including mints in wrappers with the colors. We spent around $850 and it was worth it. She really enjoyed herself and so did the guest.

My daughter didn't want much, just her dinner at Red Lobster.
She also got a Kindle, which she loves.

We have had movie parties
Going out with a few friends, like 4 to Chili's
She's been invited to a bash at home, with a dj, catered.
One of her favorites was the Go Kart park, we did this when she was 13. We took a cookie cake.
Girls--do a make-over, then trip to the mall, then sleepover

We had her besties over for pizza, movies, and a sleep-over. One of my daughter's friends parents through a huge party where they rented a trolley-type party bus and took them all to the next big town (30 mins away) for pizza and then a drive through downtown Chicago. The was a surprise to the girl, too. The kids had a blast. As someone else stated a lot depends on how much you want to spend and what he/she wants...

What is the budget and what does the birthday person want?

We've had parties with bunches of kids, country club, DJ, dinner to quieter limo parties that pick each person up at their home, go to a hotel for the night with a group, order room service, movies, etc

My daughter turned 16 in Dec. All she wanted was to see the Back Street Boys and NKOTB concert. I managed 2 front row seats at the stage for a June concert. She invited her best friend. I had a limo service take them and bring them home. They had an awesome time, they were on the big screen, got to " touch" the guys. It is a night she'll never forget.

Other ideas, A rite of passage piece of jewelry, cash of course

Enjoy!!

I went to a sweet sixteen that had a tropical theme - like Hawaii or the Bahamas with the floral, tiki and grass skirts. It was cute.

Girl or boy? For my 16th I was kind of feeling bad for myself and then I walked into a small surprise party my mom set up for me. She talked to my best friend who helped her invite about five or six of my favorite friends to a restaurant for lunch. My mom went and picked up all the girls (no one was driving yet) and drove them to the restaurant then got me and told me we were picking up some take out there. We walked in and I was so surprised! Then my mom left us to have our lunch, and she came back at the end when we called her. She paid and brought us all home. It was so much fun!

boy or girl?

Take a small group out for dinner, followed by a sleepover.

What does the b-day child like to do? Choose the favorite activity and invite a bunch of friends to participate.
