Holy Cow (literally, tehehe), all three my kids together didn't weigh that!
Poor Mama, glad Mom and baby are healthy.
:)
Did anyone see that article about the baby born in Texas that is 16+ lbs. That's a big baby :) Happy to hear Mom and baby are doing well.
JFF ~ how big were your babies?
My oldest son was 7 lbs. 8 oz at 35 weeks
My youngest son was 8 lbs. 14 oz at 38 weeks.
@ Joy ~ yes, I believe the article did state she had gestational diabetes and had the baby via c-section.
Holy Cow (literally, tehehe), all three my kids together didn't weigh that!
Poor Mama, glad Mom and baby are healthy.
:)
My son was 9 lbs 1 1/2 oz delivered vaginally precisely on his due date.
The heaviest baby born to a healthy mother was a boy weighing 22 lb 8 oz who was born to Sig. Carmelina Fedele (Italy) at Aversa, Italy in September 1955.
My biggest was 8 lbs 6 oz, but my great- grandma had a 14 pounder in the 1920s in michigan's UP.
My SIL's friend had a 14 lb baby too. She wasn't diabetic but he came caesarean. She was bummed because he didn't fit into his cute newborn clothes.
Woah.
#1 Son: 8.5 (4 days late)
#2 Girl: 8.7 (One week early)
#3 Girl: 10.7 (2 days late, although, I moved during my last trimester to another state and the new doc didn't agree with the old docs estimate on a due date. The pediatrician said my baby had all the classic signs of a baby that cooked about 2 more weeks than they should have!!! I still get mad when I think about it, and no, no c-section I pushed her out all on my own).
Son #1 was 8 lbs. 10 oz. at 40 weeks
Son #2 TBD (although I am measuring 3 weeks ahead of schedule and am going in for an ultrasound next week to see what's up...we figure he'll be huge!)
Both will be c-section babies!
.
3lbs 3oz--- 5 weeks early, boy
7 lbs 7 oz ---10 days early, girl
7 lbs 6 oz --- one week overdue, girl
8 lbs 3 oz --- on due date, boy
Number one is now 5'11" and about 180lbs.
1st born: 7lbs 8oz
2nd born: 7lbs 7oz
3rd born: 7lbs 8oz
All 3 were 21 inches long!
I had twins (via c-section) that weighed 6lbs 14 oz and 7 lbs 11 oz. So, that's 14lbs 9oz cumulative. And they were fraternal, so that's two placentas & fluid.... I was LA-ARGE! They were born just shy of 38 weeks. First born was 9 lbs 9 oz at 41 weeks.
@Joy - the Mom did have GD and it was being treated - they assumed via u/s that the baby was 12# so they did the C-Section. It was at that point that they learned baby was 16#
8 lbs 10 oz and 8 lbs 2 oz
Yeah, that's a big baby!
son-7 10
daughter 9 eve
son 8 12
I thought he was 16lbs 10oz.....not that it matters when you are talking a 16lb newborn!!!
My first was 6lb even at 36 and 6
My second was 4lbs 3oz at 35 and 2
I have preeclampsia with both. Oh and btw, my second is now just 15 months and she weighs just under 17lbs. I cannot imagine carrying that in my belly.
Daughter 7lbs 11oz
Son 9lbs 0oz
I couldn't imagine a baby that size!!! :)
7 lbs 6 oz, at 37 weeks, oldest son
6 lbs 6.6 oz at 39 weeks, youngest son
OMG that's enough to scare me into Not having another child ;-)
Glad they're both doing well !
Mikey was exactly 40 weeks and 8 lbs 3 oz
That poor Mom!! Lol.
My son weighed 7 lbs, 13 ounces and was 4 days late.
son 6 lbs 14 oz 10 days early - there is absolutely no need for them to be bigger. They can grow in their own space - not mine LOL. Glad the mom is doing well but so glad that wasn't me.
#1- 5.11 @ 39wks., #2- 7.8 @ 40.3 wks, & #3- 8.5 @ 39.1wks.---- all boys.
10lbs
23.5 inches long
15.5 inch head circumference
Vaginal birth (luck + massage and oil = no tearing), no episiotomy
aka... same length and slightly bigger head size than the baby in texas, but he didn't have the chub. Nor newborn skinniness. He was born with a "braided" back and 6 pack abs, and had full control over his head. That's a pretty "average" size in my family. 9-11 is normal, and about 2 feet long.
We skipped newborn and went straight into 3mo clothes, and were in 6mo clothes a month or so later, and he was wearing 2Ts at 6mo.
((Because of his over 20lbs of placenta -normal is 3-5lbs-, I was actually carrying apx 40lbs in my uterus. Or about the same weight/size that full term triplets carry, or c-section quints. My skin on my stomach will never recover. Strangely enough; no diastasis rectus seperation))
LOL... I remember thinking... "But I thought he'd be little!/ So much for the tiny newborn stage!" He seemed huge. And I guess, comparatively to most, kind of was.
I heard!!
My twins combined for 16 lbs 4 oz (8 lbs 7 oz and 7 lbs 13 oz), so I know exactly how that poor mother felt!!!
My singleton was 10 lbs 7 oz
I can relate! I had twins who were 15 lb combined, but with the extra placenta and water weight I'm sure it was more. I had a friend who had a 16 lb baby. The doctore made an incision for the C-section but still couldn't get the baby out and had to push the baby back in and make the incision bigger. then the nurses had to go to the pediatric ward to get diapers to fit! Pretty crazy!
9lbs -1 oz, 9 lbs -4 oz, 8 lbs - 15oz...
I read the article and then called my sister in Longview... she hadn't heard yet...(and she's a nurse...LOL)
#1 8 lbs 2 oz at 41 weeks
#2 7 lbs 14 oz at 39 weeks +1 day
Daughter 1 was 7lbs 10 oz 40 weeks 2 days.
Daughter 2 was 7lbs 4 oz 39 weeks.
Daughter 3 was 7lbs 3 oz 39 weeks 5 days.
I always crack up when I hear moms "bragging" about having a "big" baby and then they say "oh yeah, he was 8 pounds!" I'm like huh? My kids were 10.12 and 11 pounds and both were almost 2 weeks early. In fact, my daughter had a heart condition and was sent to NICU and they had to send someone to get diapers because they only had premie size! Ha! But I loved my big babies, little skinny babies always make me nervous to hold them. =)
i couldnt believe this when i saw it on the news. that baby is bigger then my 5 month old. lol
my daughter 39 weeks 6lbs 10.2oz
my son 39 weeks 7 lbs 4oz.
both were c section.
oldest boy was 8lbs 10oz at 41 weeks
twin boys were 7lbs 14oz and 6lbs 12oz at 38 weeks.
My son was 8# 11oz at 40 weeks 2 days
My daughter was 9# 4 oz at 39 weeks 6 days, and she was the biggest baby in the nursery!
My second daughter was 8# 7oz at 39 weeks 2 days.
My husband and I make big babies!
my son was 9-2,, 21 1/2 inches..6 days overdue
daughter was 9-2 1/2.. 21 1/2 inches on her due date.
grand daughter was 7lbs 1/2 oz,, 19 inches, 5 weeks early,, type 1 diabetes,,can you imagine how big she would have been if my daughter had gone to her due date? The Drs say she would have been about 14 pounds,,,ugh she was a c-section.
Daughter 7lbs 6oz - 39 wks
Son 8lbs 3 oz - 39 wks
Daughter 6lbs 10oz -38 wks
I had gestational diabetes with my 3rd child and was warned about the risk of having a overly large baby however as you can see my 3rd was my smallest. At the time of delivery she was measuring so small that they had the NICU on call as they were predicting her to only be around 5 lbs. My gestational diabets however were fairly well under control with diet so that may be the difference in this case with the 16 lb baby. Usually it is when the diabetes is not under control that the babies end up so large :)
That mom probably had -undiagnosed/untreated- gestational diabetes. It is not healthy to have such a big newborn!
Daughter 6 lbs 7 oz (12 days late)
Son 7 lbs 15 oz (1 day early)
Son due in 4 weeks is measuring big. I am nervous. :)
8 lbs 7 oz girl. My husbands cousin had an 11 lb baby! Yikes!
My oldest was 7 lbs 2 oz
My youngest was 8 lbs 3 oz.
My daughter was 6lbs 1oz (a week before her due date)
My son was 6lbs 12oz (right on his due date)
They thought my son was going to be big, but he proved them wrong :)
Can't imagine a 16 pound baby!
Both my kids, were born over 8 pounds and 21" long.
And they were born early. My daughter at 39 weeks and my son at 38 weeks.
Yikes!! So much for the tiny newborn stage!
All of my daughters:
7lb 0oz
7lb 12oz
8lb 0oz
7lb 14oz
My twins were 1 lb. 13 ounces and 2 pounds even... preemies. But now Perfectly healthy and appropriately sized. =)
daughter #1 6 lbs 8 oz and 19 inches
daughter #2 9 lbs 8 oz and 20 inches
son was 8 lbs 4 oz and 21 inches
1st was vaginal, had to have c sections with 2 and 3.
Son #1: 7lbs 9oz
Son #2: 8lbs 6oz
Son #3: 7lbs 5oz
I feel for the poor mother. My two daughters were 8 lbs 1 oz and 7 lbs 9 oz. plenty big for me. I still had to have the c-section because of complications. And I felt huge with just carrying those sizes seperatly. It would have been like carrying both of them together. yikes!
I didn't see it but I heard about it. My son was 7 lb 15.5 oz at birth but by 3 months was 19 lbs.
My son was 7lbs 12oz born @ 38w 4d and I had G.D he was nowhere near what that led me to believe he was gonna be.
Sounds like she didn't listen to docs nutritional advice to control her carbs. I had GD and mine was 6 lbs, 13 oz. Controlling carbs and taking a med if needed will control baby's weight gain among the other VERY serious health risks for baby like hypoglycemia.
My son was 9lb 3oz, 41 weeks 5 days
My daughter was 6lb 12oz, 41 weeks 2 days
I hadn't heard about that woman in Texas, but my God, I cannot imagine! My son went straight into 3 month sized clothes & seemed tiny to me until I had my daughter 17 months later & saw an actually small baby!
I just saw that family on the news. Wow!
Both of my boys were 7 lbs. 8 oz. My first was born 5 weeks early, and my second was 3 weeks early. They would have been big babies if they had gone to term. :)
7 lbs 4 oz 40 weeks- I thought I was gonna be preggo forever!!
At 39 weeks my son was 9 pounds 13 ounces! He is 3 in a half months and is almost 16. He is a cute lil chunk :)
