My daughter has always been a good sleeper . . . until recently. For a couple nights in a row, she will be sound asleep and then screaming! Has anyone had this experience? I just don't know what to do for her.

What can I do next?

my first guess is teething. if she doesn't settle in a couple minutes, go calm her (pacifier, lovey, holding...) briefly, then put her back down so you don't overstimulate and disrupt the rest of her sleeping patterns. We've also used the numbing cream (just a dot) to rub on the gums/sore area. This just happened to our 15 mo old this month while a huge molar breaks through.

Yes, my daughter went through the same thing. It could be night terrors or night tremors, teething or a leaky diaper. At various times for my daughter, it was either one of the above....

If it's teething: Hyland's Homeopathic Teething Tablets helped us a lot. If not, then Infant's Tylenol.

If it's night terrors or night tremors: Then you are supposed to go comfort them and hold them and then put them back down to sleep.

If it's a leaky diaper, then we usually went in there quick, lights down low, changed her diaper and then put her back down (super quick so that she was still groggy.)

Hope that helps? good luck!

Hi A.,

My guess would be teething. I would give Motrin before bed and homeopathic teething tablets from Hylands and cuddles when she wakes up yelling.

It won't last forever and soon she'll be back to being a good sleeper, with a little bit of help from you. Good luck!

Sounds like it could be night terrors. Nothing you can do about it - Sorry. She is really sleeping, so don't try to wake her up. It usually goes away as it comes - just one day they will be gone.

Good luck! I went through it for about 2 months when my son was 2.

It could also be nightmares. I agree, just cuddle and calm her down, and they will go away when she knows she's safe.

Yes! This is normal I understand from some research I did. (Weissbluth sleep book, Pantley's "No Cry Sleep Solution" etc.) I think they do it in their sleep and then fall back to sleep again. Try to stand near the bed and observe without interfering and see if she goes back to sleep on her own. THis is what I do. He usually goes back.
