13 Months old...and Still NO Teeth!!!

I'm sure you'll get a lot of responses on this one. Here's mine: my little girl didn't get her first tooth until 15 1/2 months old. Then a couple of them came at once. She was delayed with all of her teeth and didn't get her eye teeth (canines) until she was almost 2 1/2. Oh well! I hear that when the teeth take longer to come in, they have healthier enamel and fair well.
FYI - my husband and his mother both got their teeth late. I know you don't have the benefit of this kind of knowledge, but my doctor said that they don't really begin to question things until the kids get to be 18 months or so. Then, they may consider x-rays. Meanwhile, hopefully your son can still "gum" a variety of soft foods.

My daughter was walking before she had teeth. She was almost 12 months before the first tooth sprouted, then she got 5 in one week.

I would make an appointment with a Pedidontist (Pediatric Dentist). Due to some oral problems, my then 6 month old had to see two, and I can definitely recommend both of them.

The first is Joshua Solomon in Livermore ###-###-#### who I really was impressed with. He has a very high tech office. The second is Jason Law in Fremont ###-###-####.

Call them up and tell them your concerns and ask if they think the concerns are valid. Most likely, they will want you to go in for an exam.

Try not to worry too much. My daughter finally got her first teeth just in time for her first birthday party. She was miserable! And then she only had two for a couple more months. Now at 15 months they are all lined up and coming in one after the other. She got three this week, and I can see at least 4 just under the gum waiting to break thorough. It has been really difficult for us since she has been teething constantly for months without any teeth, but at least now they are starting to show up. And she loves to use the new teeth. She'll even hold her cheerios in the front of her mouth so she can crunch them in her four front teeth! =)

Everyone kept telling me to be patient too. A friend of mine has a daughter who didn't get any teeth at all until 16 months and now has a whole mouth of teeth, so they come in at all different times.

Hi K., not to worry especially if the dentist said it was okay. My daughter (who is now 32) did not get her first two teeth until she was 15 mos. old! The dentist told me that since she was such a late bloomer that she'd have her teeth longer than most when she becomes a senior citizen. On the otherhand, once her teeth finally came in they didn't want to fall out (around the age of 6 or 7?) and by the age of 10 she had to get a few of her "baby" teeth extracted so that the adult teeth could come in.

Just FYI- my husband did not get any teeth until he was 14 months old. They all came with no problems and turned out to be good strong teeth.
