11 Week Old Will Not Stop crying.what to Do?

My son cried for months on end and the doc said it was colic... well it was actually internal ear infections that no one could see on the ear drum. I forced the doc to finally have his hearing tested, even though he was given a clean hearing bill in the hospital, and found out that the fluid behind his ears was so bad that he was actually deaf!
So, look into ALL possibilities because babies don't cry for no reason...
Ear tubes made him the perfect baby boy he was trying to be!

My first son was exactly the same way. What I ended up doing was getting a sling style baby carrier and just carrying him everywhere, because I couldn't stand to hear him cry. Other things you might try are changing formula's etc - sometimes that can make it better. My son ended up having really terrible reflux and colic for the first year. We tried lots of things but in the end carrying him or driving him around in the car were the only solutions.

After the first year things got better, and then they got worse when he turned 2. It turns out he has a sensory disorder that will affect him most of his life and the firm hold of baby sling may have been to only comfort he had as an infant. As your son gets older if you think he may have something else going on check into sensory disorders - they explained a lot of things about how our son was as a baby and later as a toddler - wish we would have known at the time. Lots of small adjustments can be made to make life much easier for the child and the parents. I'd be happy to share info. in case you ever need it.

How sad for both you and your son. Keep loving him and don't worry about spoiling him at this point. I've read that chiropractic, even on babies younger than yours, can do wonders for both colic and acid reflux. Wish I'd known to feel safe with it when my daughter was an infant, though we didn't have the problems you are having. Mylecon was a staple here for gas pain. It would provide instant relief for my first child if I ate something like italian that would give him gas pains.

Sounds like Colic. My daughter had reflux and colic and was treated for it. Nonetheless she screamed 16 hrs/day for 18 months. Unfortunately sometimes that just happens. She also ended up having a sensory disorder. (Don't want to scare you).

Baths seem to help and other such things that can distract them for a while. Also might want to get a wedge to slip under the sheets in the ccrib to keep upright while sleeping. Are you breastfeeding? Try not eat spicy foods

I feel for you!!! I would get a sling and the book, "The Happiest Baby on the Block" and take the little guy to a chiropractor that specializes in infants.
I got a Moby wrap and it is a little hard to get the hang of at first but after a few trys you get it right and the baby is safe and secure. I wish I had bought one with my first child!

Sounds to me like he just wants to be held, but if you ever want any peace, you'll have to teach him how to entertain himself for short periods.

It can still be reflux! My daughter had a really bad case of it and was just like this. The medicine only took the edge off her reflux when she was entirely upright like when I was holding her. HTH.

Wear him in a sling or baby carrier whenever you can. If this doesn't work, buy Dr. Sears book on attatchment parenting, and his book titled "The fussy baby". These are fantastic for children and parents dealling with GIRD.

Maybe gas pain. It looks like your baby has tummy issues. Try using babies magic tea.

My SIL had this same issue w/ her new baby boy. If he was awake, he was crying. They eventually discovered that he had a painful hernia which required a simple surgical procedure. Also, my cousin's son was very fussy during the daytime and she found that if she put one of his blankets in the dryer to warm it up, then swaddled (sp?) him tightly, it helped him quiet down for a bit. Could your son be getting mad because his limbs are "flapping" around? The swaddling might help w/ that. I have heard many moms say that the noise of the vacuum cleaner running calms down chronic cryers. Go figure! My brother used a tactic from a book (I THINK it was called "The Baby Whisperer") where you continually "hum" the same tone near the baby's ear. He demonstrated this one to me and I was amazed. His newborn stopped screaming within seconds! If you want me to get the exact name of the book from him just let me know. Or, maybe someone out there will know what I'm trying to decribe and will know the name of the book? Anyone? I hope some of this helps. Hang in there! It will not last forever!

I too know someone whose baby had severe reflux, and Zantac didn't even touch it. On Prevacid, she was a totally different baby. You didn't mention what med your baby is on, but it might be something to talk to the dr. about.

My youngest daughter was this way and we decided to change her formula to Similac Alimentum. It worked great. We noticed a huge improvement in a matter of hours. Hope it helps.

It could be gas. Try some Gas X or whatever the generic brand is in your area. Also, I found that with my 3 yr old, she couldnt tolerate the tap water at that age. When I switched to bottle water, she stopped the crying. You have to get the one with the floeride in it, for her teeth. I have had 2 kids since my 3 yr old, and when I use tap water, they are very cranky the rest of the day. By the time they are 8-10 months, I could use the tap water again. Also, is he regular with pooping? If not, he could be constipated and need something extra for that. Check with your doctor on what is ok. Good Luck!
