Have you tried half milk/half formula? or goat's milk. I understand that is easy on a baby's tummy, but I never tried it. You can find it canned usually.
A few days ago my son suddenly started refusing formula. Every time I give him a bottle he just pushes it away. Sometimes he will drink about an ounce but that is it. I've tried putting it in a cup and again he will take a couple of sips and then push it away. He's eating solid foods now, so I'm not worried about nutrition but I am worried that he is getting dehydrated. I'm trying to supplement with watered down apple juice because that is the only thing he will drink. Any suggestions? Is this a phase or should I be bringing him to the doctor? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,
I have been where you are right now. My daughter refused formula at about 9 months and I started giving her whole milk and she did fine. My son's I had to mix formula with whole milk so try both. All my kids came off formula very early to include baby food. They get a taste of real food and formula doesn't mix with what they are eating. I would give him more milk because from experience the more juice the less milk they want. I've been through it all and it is so normal. He is telling you I am growing up and before you know it he will be talking. Talk to your pediatrician and see what he or she thinks but usually they tell you to start them on whole milk so they can get some nutrients from milk. My pediatrician told me you know your baby and if she eats regular food and fine milk will be too.
Try giving him a little bit of whole milk.. Not too much at first, as his system isn't used to it. Give him water as well. You can flavour it just a bit with a tiny amount of cool-aid (not much, just to slightly flavour). Give him liquids from now on in a sippy cup or whatever you use...he's ready for that since he pushes away the bottle. Also, since he seems to be only drinking a couple ounces at a time, then offer only that amount, but offer it more frequently.
No need to worry just start giveing him water and milk and other drinks that are not high in sugar or not a lot of drinks that has a lot sugar. You might not even have to water down the juice depends on the kid and juice,With my first one she was ok with it not watered down unless it was juicy juice. I personally hate seeing kids running around with a bottle at that age.
My son has started doing that on occasion, (8 mo) however sometimes he will drink from the bottle. For me the Doc said to try it in a cup with a straw rather than a sippy cup. She said that may be easier than the bottle, but just different enough he will drink it. We haven't yet tried as we went to the doc yesterday, and need to purchase the bottles. The doc did say to avoid the juices so early, but this could be the difference in age.
Sorry this is only sort of relevant. Good Luck,
W.
HI! Your little guy is a big boy now, and he is telling you he is all done with his bottle and formula! You are quite lucky because I have heard that sometimes getting your baby off the bottle can be hard! Talk it over with your doctor first, but he will(probably) tell you to start him on whole milk. Lots of babies start to refuse the breast\bottle around this age, so it is nothing to worry about, your baby is just moving on to the next phase...big boy cups!
Oh, I would also quit the applejuice if possible, once they start that stuff, they will refuse water.
good luck!!
No worries L.. He is not too young for whole milk in a sippy cup. One word of caution. I have heard some mothers end up having difficulty getting their children to drink milk after introducing apple juice to them. Apple juice is sweeter and some babies will refuse the milk knowing they will then get the juice. This is the same reason Moms are to introduce baby vegetables before fruits. Many babies will refuse the vegetables because they like the sweeter tasting fruits instead.
