11 Month Old Pooped Rice--Totally Undigested?

The title pretty much says it all. I changed my daughter's diaper tonight, and it looked strange, so I inspected it a little further. I was going through my mind trying to figure out what could possibly be making it look like that, and then I remembered my grandmother telling me that she fed her rice earlier. I mean, it was a lot of rice--and TOTALLY undigested. Whole rice grains. It looked like poop cereal. Is this normal? It looked alarming, but I don't know if it should be alarming. I'm not sure if she ate chicken, too, but it kind of looked like chicken shreds were mixed in, and if I know my grandmother there was chicken with the rice.

What can I do next?

Don't worry. Rice is one of those things that can pass through the digestive tract in one piece
Corn is another one.
Nothing to be alarmed about.
My dear friend and I had our kids exactly 30 days apart. Her son was the older one. We were both first time mothers, but she was so nervous about every single thing, while I had a little more laid back approach. She called me or came over for everything from hiccups to fussing in the bathtub. I always just reassured her.
One day, she called me in hysterics and was so upset, I couldn't even understand what she was trying to say. All I got was that she was sure there was something terribly, terribly wrong and she needed help.
Well, to make a long story short......her son pooped a pickle.

Yes. A pickle. A whole, entire, undigested little, tiny sweet pickle. She saved the diaper until I could get there.
Now, I'd like to say it wasn't funny at the time, but it was. I mean, I'm not making light. She was really worried something was wrong with her son's digestive tract or something and asked how something like that could possibly happen.
I said, "Well, honey....he somehow obviously swallowed a whole pickle, and that's how it came out."
He was fine.
He was older than 11 months and old enough to get a pickle off of someone's plate during a gathering the day before. Thank God he didn't choke and it slid right down. It also had no trouble sliding out the other end either.
It was a pinky size pickle and it didn't digest or break down.
There was nothing wrong with him.

He had the misfortune of his mom calling him Pickle Pooper for a while, but otherwise, no harm done.
We still laugh about it.

Your little one is okay.

Best wishes.

My son once pooped out undigested grape skins, it scared me good until I realized what it was after inspecting it more.

Toddler poop is always an adventure. Because they don't get the concept of chewing food well and some things (like whole grains, the skins of fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds, dense proteins - like actually chicken vs. pureed) pass through the digestive track partially or not completely digested. Another contributor is that as their gut enzymes (chemicals that help break up food) are still developping and their diet is expanding - it sometimes takes a little longer for the body to catch up. As she ages the poop will look more normal. As long is not affecting her ability to actually poop and she is gaining weight and eating well there are no worries!

Probably just too soon to eat that yet. Usually at 12 months so it wont be long. Grandma's don't care for all the new changes and insist on their old ways and say their kids grew up fine. As well, they are known for over feeding them when they see the babies like it and kids will just eat what is given to them.

Yeah -it's pretty normal! Wait until you see it puked up about 10 hours after eating -completely undigested. Not sure what it is about the rice, but sometimes it just passes on through ;-) Her system probably just isn't used to it. Chicken won't hurt her either.

I really wouldn't worry. My son is nearly 23 months old and i occasionally find whole beans, whole raisins, and other fully identifiable foods (I always THINK he's chewing, but clearly a lot of things go down that aren't).
As long as they make it through the system (aren't a choking hazard), then it's probably not really a big deal.

I have been told rice is hard to digest just like corn and beans ibn some people. I would hold off the rice until I spoke to the dr.
