Help! My DS is refusing the bottle as of yesterday. I'm still nursing him in the evenings before bedtime but I'm worried that he's not getting enough milk during the day at daycare. He is eating well all the food we are giving him just don't know what is going on now that he is refusing the bottle. Usually he'll have 2 snacks and lunch and approximately 10-15 oz of milk at daycare.
Anyone have any suggestions.

So What Happened?

DS took bottle the next day. Thanks you for all the recommendations. I have already started using sippy cup for water but will soon start putting milk in there.

At 10 months old, he should be able to use a sippy cup and eating baby food/finger foods. As long as he's getting calcium from another source (yogurt/cheese), he's fine :)

Is he teething? My babies refused a bottle when they were teething - they would nurse only (or eat baby food). If so, you could try some tylenol to help with the pain or just give it a few days.

He also might be ready for a sippy cup - take the valve out the 1st few times so that he can figure out what it's all about.

At his age, I wouldn't panic. He knows when he's hungry and thirsty and he'll take a bottle again when he's ready.

we had something similar, once we introduced the sippy cup, he flat out refused the bottle. consider yourself lucky, your son has self weaned. at the 1 year check up, our doctor said no more than 18-24 oz of b/m formula/ milk a day, so that they can have room for food. enjoy

Will he drink it out of the sippy?

I'd just add more nursing while he's home and not worry about it. If he's thirsty he'll drink, My son was 11 months when he decided he either wanted milk from the breast or WATER in his sippy. Happy for me, I love nursing but HATED pumping!

You're within two months of the toddler nursing "cycle of relaxation" anyway where you don't have to worry about pumping or milk supply because they're eating and drinking good and on the days that they don't eat good you don't have to worry because they're still nursing good!

Another vote for the sippy! Both my boys just played with the sippy at first. Just like Diane, my SIL told be to take out the valves. Once the milk started to leak out they were like, "Oh, that's what this is!" A little mess at first, but they got the idea after on hour or two. Totally worth it!
