I used care.com when I was looking for childcare.
Hi mom's~
I have recently sent in paperwork to officially turn my babysitting/nannying into a licensed home daycare. I did some online research for where I can post and advertise & haven't had the best of luck. I came across sittercity and posted a profile on that website. Do you have any other suggestions as to where I might be able to post my profile and/or advertise?? I'm located in the Dekalb area and there really aren't many options around here.
Any input or advice would be great.
Thanks in advance!
J.

send an email out to everyone you know and ask them in turn to send to anyone they know. I would sooner put my child in daycare with someone I knew, or someone I knew that knew her, than a stranger. Word of mouth can really work for you. Don't be shy.........tell everyone you know.
Try Craigslist.com too. Good Luck!
I have two suggestions: your local paper classifieds and Action for Children (actionforchildren.org). I used both locations when searching for childcare. Action for Children is a great resource for parents and providers. I live in a small town in Ohio and we don't have a lot of options for tradtitional daycares, so I looked at in-home options and came across that website. It is full of wonderful info and might even give you some ideas for your business. I found both of our daycare providers on that site and my daughter is very happy at daycare.
Try your local craigslist. I do in-home child care and find most of the children I watch from there.
Also check out care.com I have found a few kids from that site as well.
I found that any advertising I did was best used at DHS and other places like a Child Care referral service. Most all kids I had were referred by DHS once I had my contract with them. It was a waste of money for me in the newspaper, most of my kids were state paid and they didn't take the newspaper. Radio is horribly expensive and I only got 1 child from it. The grandmother heard my add not the mom. So, what did I do? I got free stories in the newpaper about field trips, with pictures and little blurbs underneath. We had big signs out in the front so people going by could see them. I called local companies and asked them if they had a newsletter I could put an add in. That didn't get me any kids either. Like I said most came from the state by way of their parents applying for child care benefits. I filled up within a week or two of getting my contract.
if there is a bulletin board at the employment office post there you can't find a job till you find daycare. Any employment agency and if your dhs approved workers might let people know if they ask
I would also recommend Craig's list, but you must be alert. I am an evening, and late night sitter for parents' nightout. I reside near Disney World, Universal Studios, Seaworld, and all the major attractions for the past 14 years. I worked with local families, and visitors from all over the world. ____@____.com I advertised on Craig's list, and some scammers from overseas tried me. You need to be careful, and check them out carefully. It is a great site, but not all the visitors there are legitimate. You should never accept any money orders from overseas, and beware of the jobs who pay $400 per day. Good Luck!
Hi J.,
Our elementary school keeps a list in case people call to see what is available in the area. Their list keeps daycare and home care options. We live in a small town and the car station and ice cream shop always have flyers on their boards with people openings and phone numbers
Good luck!
