Do you know who is responsible for making and repairing shoes in the fairy world? Leprechauns! In their off hours, Leprechauns enjoy having a bit o’ fun, with a reputation for being trouble makers.

Here are some great ideas for planning a ‘mini’ invasion in your home this St. Patrick’s Day.

St Patty’s Day Fun

Mom4S from Cardington asks
We always have leprechauns visit our house on St Patty’s Day Eve. Over the years, they have been pretty bold and some years just a little mischievous (depending on how tired I was that night…LOL!).

In the past, this is what they have done:

  • Colored the milk green
  • Colored the toilet water green
  • Left green clover confetti around the cupboards, cereal boxes, etc.
  • Made green footprints on the counter
  • Stacked up all the green Legos
  • Moved furniture around

Looking for some new ideas for these naughty little leprechauns.
Thanks Moms!!

I read a cute idea a few years back in Family Fun where you can make the little leprechaun trap, and it was sprung but they left some gold coins (those gold foil wrapped chocolates coins). You have to pick the right one, or answer a riddle, or whatever you guys come up with. If wrong, the gold coins all turn to chocolate.

Great ideas. Last year, my daughter woke up to find little green footprints (made from felt) all around the house. They started in her bedroom and led her to 7 or 8 hiding places (inside closet door, under bookshelf, in kitchen cupboard, etc.) where little green treats were found. The leprechaun left green candy, green socks, green apples, green ponytail holders and such. She had so much fun that she gathered a few items that daddy likes and hid them, then placed the footprints accordingly. We also made a game to see who could eat more foods that are green (naturally)…great way to get her to eat veggies!

Playing on what you have already, maybe have them leave footprints on the kids faces:) That would be funny! I have deep sleepers and I could totally get away with that!

  • Or stacking anything and everything green in your house in a pile in the living room?
  • Green milk and either green eggs and ham OR Lucky Charms!

What a great idea!! Can you find some shamrocks to leave on the floor in the hall or laying around?

Might try to come up with something for them to hunt and find…green eggs or something. Maybe they can leave green cookies.

I know someone who made their dog green. I thought it was terrible, poor thing. It started out white.

There’s always pots of gold. Maybe you can find a little shoe to have in one of the traps!
Good luck and it sounds like you are having a wonderful time!!
