My Pregnancy By the Numbers
With only a few days to go before we welcome our son, I thought I would take a moment to reflect back on these last nine months of pregnancy – it’s a pretty wacky transformation, after all. Here’s a look at the good, the bad and the ugly by the numbers.
Number of prenatal doctor appointments: 16 (my dear husband attended almost ALL)
Number of purchased pairs of Fred Mertz-style maternity pants: 3
Number of weeks spent feeling like absolute garbage: 10
Number of weeks before I shared the news with friends: 14
Number of weeks before I felt the baby kick: 17
Number of weeks before I officially developed a pregnancy waddle: 34
Number of obscure vegetables to which my baby’s size was compared: 3 (anyone else have to look up the size of a jicama?)
Number of pre-selected names for a girl: 12
Number of pre-selected names for a boy: 3 (we’re having a boy, naturally)
Number of unexpected “fluke puke” episodes: 3 (not my finest moments)
Number of unsolicited belly rubs: Not nearly as many as I was warned about
Number of women (total strangers) who accurately guessed the gender of the baby based on how I’m carrying: 4
Number of prenatal massages: 2 (and they were glorious)
Number of pineapples consumed: 100?
Number of times I repacked my hospital bag: 3
Number of times people told me to get sleep now: 50?
Number of bizarre pregnancy dreams: Countless (my personal favorite involved giving birth to a bag of cat food)
Number of baby products purchased out of pure paranoia: 11 (I’m not exactly sure what gripe water is, but we need it)
