Business description (provided by the business owner):

I have been a DONA certified birth doula for 10 years and have had the privilege of attending women throughout the metro NY/NJ area. I am also a Lamaze trained childbirth educator and a certified lactation counselor. My birth philosophy is pretty simple - women's bodies were made to birth our babies. My role is to present you with evidence based information, assist you in navigating the myriad of birth options, help you determine the best path to YOUR ideal birth experience and provide the continuous, unwavering support necessary for you to achieve this goal.

Our birth experiences and resulting memories have a great impact on the way we approach motherhood. I look forward to the opportunity of supporting you on your journey and helping as you bring your beautiful babies into the world!

I sit here writing this review with tears in my eyes and a smile on my face as I recall the evening my precious "gift" entered the world. Roseanne is a blessing to all women that go through childbirth and are LUCKY enough to have her by their sides. She is wonderful at what she does and I am honored to have had her help me through the birth of my baby girl. I know that without her my birthing experience would have been very different and not what I now call the "Most amazing experience of my life!". Roseanne is very gifted and very good at what she does. She is very caring and makes you very comfortable asking any sort of question. Roseanne helped me "climb that hill" every single time I needed to and helped me labor in many different positions that allowed the baby to align correctly and help my labor progress. Not that it needed much. She also has an incredible way with people and a very special bond with the labor and delivery nurse that was on call the night my baby was born. I am forever grateful for that too. Being a first time Mom I had no clue what to expect even after taking all the classes and reading many books. My labor started about 5pmish and by 6ish I considered calling Roseanne because I "thought" I might be in labor??? Well, her ears must have been ringing as I went for the phone it rang and it was HER! She was just making her way down Rt 17 and thought she'd check in...it was a Saturday night and we all like a little wine! So I told her she might be seeing me tonight and as the conversation progressed so did I. She was talking me through contractions that were coming every 7-6-5 minutes apart. She told me to see how it goes and to call my OB if they progress and call her back too. Shortly, after I got off the phone with Roseanne my contractions after a shower were 3 minutes apart. Deciding that time was of the essence we left for the hospital with wet hair and no makeup much to my disappointment. My husband was a nervous wreck and we still had a 15-20 minute drive to Valley Hospital that I totally did not think of!!!! Let me tell you it is one thing to labor on all fours in the comfort of your own home and an entirely other situation to do it in the front seat of a car!!! No women tell you that in any of the classes. It was the longest most "painful" car ride of my life. So we finally make it to the ER entrance and I get wheeled up to the maternity floor and there I see an ANGEL it is Roseanne. From there on out I knew I was in good hands and all my fears fleeting as they were disappeared. She took control (in a good way) and both me and my husband felt very thankful she was there. My husband to this day still says it was the best decision we made during the pregnancy. So we are in the labor and delivery room and Roseanne is in full swing and totally in sync with the nurses (loved that!) and my OB gets there to let me know I am 8cm dilated and Roseanne says "you can do this"...do what I said and she said "You can do this without an epidural". From that moment on I was like Yes I can!!!! If this is what 8cm is like how bad can the rest be??? Well, Momnesia has set in a bit after several wonderful months. However, I would never have changed a thing. I truly believe with all my heart that due to Roseanne being there and her support and guidance of different laboring positions I was able to have one of the most amazing birthing experiences a woman can have. I only hope and pray my labor for baby #2 will be as wonderful. Yes, after having such a wonderful experience it was as soon as 8 weeks after my baby girl was born that I was already thinking of doing it again. So that should give you an indication of how wonderful it was to have Roseanne there by my side.

Amazing does not even begin to describe the support that Roseanne gave me during my birth experience! I was a first time Mom and nervous as all get-out. The list of worries was long and Roseanne assured me numerous times they were all very normal. Of particular concern for me was that my husband and I had made a compromise over my birthing strategy - I could choose the technique (Bradley) as long as he could choose the location (a hosiptal). See, my wonderful caring husband is an RN and I wanted a "natural" birth and thought that a home birth was the best way to achieve that. He wanted me and the baby somewhere where an emergency could be handled quickly and professionally without an ambulance ride. Roseanne was a bridge between the two concepts and assured me that a "natural" birth could be achieved just as easily in a hospital setting. My 1-yr old daughter is proof of just that!

I had always felt all births (including a necessary c-section) were natural, I just wanted to make sure I'd be given every opportunity to do "what my body had been made for." This fit well with my pre-birth classes and a doula seemed like a logical addition to my birth support team. Through my discussions with Roseanne, I learned what I feared the most was unneccessary intervention. We began using words like "minimally medically invasive" to describe the pending event and that put me at ease while assuring hubby that I was on board with his wishes too. I was also feeling stronger and happier because I knew that Roseanee was there for us with aditional information and options - just in case. Roseanne was always very knowledgable and never ever tried to impose her opinions or philosophies on either of us.

Then the big day arrived! When it all began, I wasn't really sure it was happening. My water broke at about 3pm and I called Roseanne. Roseanne gave me clear concise directions that I was able to follow and after visiting the doctor's office, I made it to the hospital at about 5:15pm. My husband was on shift and met me at the emergency room door. I was escorted upstairs and started to get settled in. Roseanne and I had chatted before that and she promised she would be at the hospital no later than 7pm. Since I had always heard first time mom's never "go quick" this sounded reasonable to me. Well, I must have been an exception because after the initial read, lots of tears over a hep-lock (which I had agreed to but wasn't ready for when I first checked in), and a quick trip to the bathroom, my contractions started - quick and strong. Just when I thought things were getting tough and I wouldn't be able to follow through on my desires, Roseanne appearred and jumped right in.

Roseanne was able to gather surplies that we needed (like a bucket of ice and washcloths) so that my husband did not have to leave my side. She also was able to calm me down after a severe bout of nausea that resulted in me being sick which I despise and caused me to momentarily loose my concentration. She suggested several position changes for riding out the contractions and just when it looked like I could push, the baby slipped back and I was asked not to. Roseanne immeidately asked me to count to 10 because "anyone can do anything for 10 seconds". Probably sounds strange peeking into this story, but, see, I'm an engineer and numbers are something I can always grab on to. Roseanne quickly choose counting as a method to keep me focused. It was a tremendous help too becuase I was able to keep counting as a way to let everyone present know what I was feeling and for how long a contraction was lasting (although I didn't realize that at the time!).

At 8:43 pm, our daughter was born. The joy in the room was overwhelming! Wonderful, loving Roseanne, just kind-of stepped back and let our new little family be together to bask in all the sudden emotions. As things settled down and the attention turned to the baby, she made sure I was not forgotten as Daddy scurried off to make phone calls and I was finally comprehending what my husband and I had just accomplished.

Roseanne is knowledgable of a woman's body, of birth and of hospital policies and procedures, experienced, trustworthy, loving, caring, and much more. I would definately recommend her services to a mother - new or experienced.

I am among the lucky women who have had Roseanne as a doula. She is fantastic. She is knowledgeable, smart as a whip, and very sweet, the perfect combination for the person you want next to you when you're in labor. She exudes and inspires confidence, and at the same time is very respectful of your thinking and wishes. She is a great presence in the delivery room - even nurses and doctors love to have her there. On top of that, she is seriously committed to the women she is supporting: during the birth of my son she stuck with me through the entire (very long) labor, always with the same level of energy and attention. I completely relied on her for support, and she was always there the way I needed. I was so impressed and touched! She is simply wonderful - a wonderful person and a wonderful professional. I couldn't recommend her more strongly as a doula.

Roseanne is awesome. as was the birth of our fifth child. Roseanne is very knowledgeable and had up to date information to share with me. I love her confidence and sincerity, she made me feel so comfortable and very well cared for. The whole birthing experience was smooth (if the first had gone this way, who knows I may have had 8 children by now!)
Anyone who has Roseanne for a doula is truly blessed.

The day that I was lucky enough to learn that Roseanne would be able to help me through the natural birth of my son changed my life as I knew it. I always knew that I had the potential to be strong both physically and mentally but without Roseanne's incredible support, encouragement and devotion to helping mommies through labor proved that I can do anything. Roseanne enabled me to have a natural birth and I firmly believe that my angel of a boy is the way that he is because of the magical way that he was brought in to the world. He entered from a mommy who was calm, felt comforted and with tons of support surrounding her. I owe Roseanne so much that words can never describe and have told ALL of my friends (as has my husband his) who are expecting or who plan on having babies in the future what a wonderful addition (and necessity) to the birthing room that Roseanne is. She is an angel on earth whose passion and devotion to mommies and babies is truly inspirational. I recommend her with the utmost confidence, respect and admiration!
