to create the most beautiful, natural images, i prefer to shoot on-location. the location can be at your own home or property, where your family will be most comfortable and your images will be most personal. locations are limited only to your imagination...if we won't get arrested by going there...i'm game for just about anything.
photography sessions are booked in one hour blocks. newborn sessions tend to be a little on the longer side...i like to come and visit the new mom and baby for the morning {or afternoon} and just hang out for awhile. somewhere between feedings and diaper changes and baths and naps we find the magic moments.
as a mom, i know young children tend to have a difficult time staying focused on an activity for long periods, so i try to make the sessions as fun for them as possible. i love it when parents bring snacks and favorite toys to the session as we take frequent breaks to recharge and goof off! we might be a bit dirty as we roll around on the grass, look for bugs, or gaze at the clouds. and parents, please don't be surprised {or alarmed} if i ask you to stand at a distance or move to another room for part of the session. sometimes it is challenging for children to pay attention to me if you're within view.
truly unique and personal photos take a great deal of thought and planning. there are no limitations on suggestions for props or locations for your session. personal items will transform your photograph into a treasured memory. fun, playful clothes for kids such as hats or tutus always make for adorable photos. an heirloom chair outside creates an interesting and beautiful focal point. this is not your traditional studio so get outside that box and let's make some art!
