Has anyone used the Ziploc SpaceBags? I noticed they are on sale for $15 for 15 bags of varying sizes and thought they would be a lot better to store all of the children's clothes I currently have in probably 20 large Rubbermaid containers. I'd like to reclaim the space we're using for storage now. Any insight on how well they work would be great. This sale is only until Sunday and I'll likely go out later today. Thanks!

So What Happened?

Sorry ... Thought I mentioned the sale was at Costco ....

Thanks ladies. I picked some up today .... With the price and Costco's extremely generous return policy, I figured if they don't work, I can return them and if they do, I will have reclaimed some space. Appreciate all the insights and things for which to watch!

My experience with Space Bags is that to put stuff in storage for a length if time--they're great. If you need to switch the stuff around a lot -- issues.
For $15? I'd get them.

Meh... I used them quite a bit in graduate school to store off-season clothing. They worked pretty well, but I found them pretty difficult to store. They are slippery and slide off of one another. I would suggest stuffing them, shrinking them and then putting them into the Rubbermaid containers so they don't end up in a pile! You will cut your Rubbermaid containers in half, but still have the items safely stored.

Don't put anything in there that will wrinkle or that cannot be machine washed to "air it out". The compression wreaks havoc on cotton items... ironing helps, but I had to take most items to the dry cleaner to have them steamed to regain their shape. Lesson learned on my part! Great for bulky winter items and blankets/comforters, though!

Save your money. These bags break easy, does not hold air in them, and they leave a very stinky smell on clothes and blankets, which are clean.

Before Ziploc acquired the Space Bag name, I got one of the totes. It works great.

I've also tried the old Space Bags and they don't hold a seal. Now that they are one and the same, I have no idea about the quality.

They're ok. I bought a bunch. I didn't use the Ziploc brand, I used the original Space Bag brand. After some time in storage, air does get in and they aren't really all condensed and tight any longer.

I have some and my experience that 2/3 of them don't hold the seal. It can be problematic - the 1st batch, I put the stuff in, sucked the air out, then stacked them in a closet. The seals leaked, and in 2 weeks a I had a closet with bags that had expanded so much that I couldn't get the bags back out. What I pain.

I still use them, because they keep the stinkbugs out of stored clothes. But I put them in the attic where it doesn't matter when the lose their seal. And, as someone else said, they are just in a pile, because they are slippery and don't stack well. But really, I could do the same thing with garbage bags for a lot less $$.

I have some that I have used to store my son's old clothes. I bagged them all up about 3.5 years ago when I moved. They lost the seal after about a year and the clothes just sit in the bags now. I didn't need the space so much since I have mine stored in the garage. I was mainly worried about bugs and moisture and the bags have worked well in that department.

$15 for 15 bags isn't much of an investment, so I'd go ahead and get them and try them out.

I loved spacebags. Not too happy with the Ziploc brand bags when they came out with them originally. I saw the commercial for the Ziploc spacebags (company merger or brand item takeover?) they looked the same as the original Spacebags. I have some and they are awesome. I have never had a problem with leakage, bugs, smells, etc. For $15, I would get them. It is worth a shot. You really can compress the stuff and it does not come out all smooshed.
