YouTube Success, Fixed My Fridge

So on and off for the last few weeks there has been a little puddle of water in front of the refrigerator. First few times I figured someone didn't toss the extra ice that came flying out of the ice despenser. But nobody claimed it.

Today, it became obvious that it was more than that. I took out the bottom pan/drawer thing out of my 15 yr old GE side by side. There was a built up iceberg in there. I put towels down and poured in hot water till the ice came out. Then I noticed a small hole with ice built up over it. First I called a repair guy to see what it would cost to fix it, $90-$100. Ugh.

Then I YouTubed refrigerator drain and found my problem, frozen plugged drain, and fixed it myself! I never watch YouTube videos for stupid cats or anything else, but this is one of several household problems that have been diagnosed or fixed because of it.

So for my question, have you used YouTube to fix something?

What can I do next?

Thanks for the ideas on other stuff to look up on YouTube! Way to go, Ladies!
Thanks for the pat on the back, too :)

I LOVE YouTube for figuring stuff out. Thanks to YouTube I have

1) Fixed the ice dispenser on my refrigerator
2) Figured out how to connect my kids DS's to each other so they can play games together.
3) Figured out how to use wraps to carry my baby both as an infant, and as he got older.
4) I know I've used it to figure out how to fix minor car issues, I forget exactly what it was...
5) Gotten tips on shortcuts on my iPhone.
6) Freed up my garbage disposal on my sink when it was jammed.

In my house it's easier to ask what we haven't fixed using YouTube. Water heater, swimming pool pump, cars, tree cutting, brick laying, countertop installation, AC unit, knitting, sewing, hair styling, IV usage in the dog.... It's our go to tool.

Not YouTube, specifically, but I have learned to go to the internet to try to fix appliances before calling a repairman. Sometimes it's a simple as pushing a few buttons.

Yes, it was very handy when I forgot how to load a staple gun and cut myself quite handily. My son was impressed that I could go online and get a "how to load staple gun" video tutorial from a bright young teen.

I've also found a few great instructional videos for Lego trebuchets. ;)

Youtube is a go to resource for DIY stuff. My husband and I use it quite often for maintenance issues that come up at our apartment complex.
Good Job!!

Via Youube... my husband replaced our front end car brakes.
Which would have cost up about $450 if done by the car repair place.
And yes, he did it well and correctly and saved us money.
