So you know the phenomenon that happens when you're shopping and reach for one product but the kids are distracting you and you come home with the wrong thing? Or when you call your kid his sibling's name? Or when you forget what you were talking about in the middle of a sentence?

My husband and I have a new name for it. We say, "I CHUCKED it" Chuck was the name of a project manager he worked with in construction who would typically work so fast, he'd leave out material or order the wrong thing for a project. Thus, creating more work and money in the long run. When you're so distracted by your kids and life, what do you call it?

What can I do next?

My personal fav is Momnesia... but I never get to use it... because I'm ADHD. That's just normal livin' & breathin' round these parts!

Middle of a sentence and keep GOING
= fluffed it (gone) OR
= Now it's time for something completely different (divert into tangent) OR
= Back in the enchanted forest (remembered what I had been talking about)

Middle of a sentence and grinds to a halt (ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-DAMMIT) = flatline

Frantic spin through last 5 minutes of cnversation where a single unrelated word fixes it = Jumpstart

The early morning routine = rubbing two braincells together to get a spark

BTW my usual is trying to open the front door of the house with my car keyless entry. the button just wont work...after hitting it about four times i realize what i am doing :P - in no way is our 1970's house any kind of techo that it would ever EVER work with some fancy auto door opener :D

In our house it is usually referred to as a "brain fart". I don't really think it has anything to do with being a man or a woman, more of just being busy and not thinking things through.

No clue...I just know I can go to the store for Multigrain Cheerios and skim milk and come back with BooBerry and 2%! Or shoe polish and cat food. Or onions and dish soap. Stick a fork in me! I'm done! LOL

The only thing on your list I have ever done is calling one kid by another one's name. Then again that is actually a rational behavior. Your brain connects behavior with the typical producer of that behavior. An example would be my daughter Christine is the one always breaking things. So when Tommy would break something the first reaction would be Christine!!!!

There are actually a fair few studies as to why our brains take shortcuts like that none of which have to do with being a mom.

So to answer your question I do not have a name for it. Yours is a cute name mind you. :)

Mommy Dementia... or Mommy ADD

I was never like this... until I had my 1st child. It then got worse once I had my 2nd child.
I used to have an amazing sense of memory and recall and organization.
Now I have, Mommy Dementia.
It is not always, funny.

Mommies... have so much to keep track of and do. Every single second.
