they look pretty gender and age neutral to me.
but I wear whatever the hell I want and tell any one who doesn't like it to not look or to go pound sand (although sometimes not that nice LOL).
I am having a hard time finding capri pants this season! I don't look good in the "skinny" capri pants that seem to be everywhere. So I ordered a pair of these:

Do they really look too kid-like? I am almost 40 years old! I don't wear overly trendy clothes, but I desperately need new clothes. I feel like I've been in maternity clothes for the past 7 years, and my non-maternity clothes are looking pretty old and ragged.
I haven't even received these jeans yet, but if they fit, I will probably be living in them all summer. I will probably just stick with wearing a normal t-shirt on top. No point in trying to look like iCarly. If you saw me wearing these, would you think I looked like I'm wearing kids' clothes? Do the pockets give it away? Thanks for your input!
ETA: I am petite, so it is pretty hard for me to find adult pants that fit.
Thanks for your opinions! I just don't want to look like the crazy mom who dresses like her daughter. I won't be buying these for my daughter, and hopefully, I won't see any other girls wearing them at t-ball practice, etc ;-)
And thanks for all of the store suggestions. Other than my mummy tummy, I really do have the body of a 13-year-old girl. I don't fit into most women's pants. I do have a good tailor, so I might turn some skinny jeans into capris if all else fails.

Personally, I don't like them, but I don't think they look like kid clothes, either. Have you tried Land's End?
I think they are cute! I like pants like this. I am 41 and would wear them in a quick minute! Have you looked at Old Navy for capris, I have got two pairs of cute ones that are really comfortable!
My worry isn't the style, but that girls pants probably won't be cut for the hips/thighs/rear of a grown-up woman.
That being said, if they fit, wear them.
If you end up back on your search... that style of capri-ish shorts is sometimes marketed as "Bermudas". I saw several cute pairs (pretty much just like the ones in your pic but different colors) at OldNavy yesterday.
I would wear them if they were in my size. I'm 41. I don't think they look like kid clothes.
My only comment is the cuffs at the bottom - I think they are a bit young looking, but honestly wear what works! I am really tall and had my dry cleaner's hem a pair of 'modified skinny' jeans to capris for the summer. The modified skinny is not skin tight but follows the curves of the body and she hemmed them to right along the calf with a slit on the sides. It did not cost much and was well worth it to have proper fitting, age appropriate capri pants. Just a suggestion.
Well not necessarily kids looking but it is a kids clothing...would really have to see them on you to say for sure...but I can see how you could wonder since it is an article of clothing created for children.
I would wear them, and I will be 40 too :)......i just bought a *kid* skirt at old navy, i am petite and it's hard to find stuff
I'd wear them, and I'm 36
I think on an adult they may look like Bermuda shorts but if they come down below your knee then I think it will work. Have you tried Kohl's petite section?
I have two pair of Capri pants like that. I love them!! In fact, I'm sad because today is laundry day and they're both in thee wash and i have to wear something else. :-)
I am petite. I pretty much have to wear kids clothes. Trust me, these do not look like kid's clothes.
And...who cares? I live in kids clothes and shoes. I really couldn't care less if anyone notices!!
I AM 40 and I would wear those. Cute!
Well I think they look fine but it says that they're kids sizes??
I think they're cute and no, they don't look like kids' clothing.
they're cute. They're not kidville. If anything, I'd say more like plus-size clothing....which I am. The rest of my family wears a size 3. :)
& actually, even though I am plus-size, I prefer the skinny leg for myself. My weight is all in the torso...not in the butt/thigh/leg.
I hope my commentary does not put you off. Stephanie mentioned Land's End. I'd also like to mention Coldwater Creek or Christopher & Banks.....my best friend loves those stores!
Cute and I couldn't tell they were kids. I am petite as well and feel your pain!
I think that they are pretty non-descript. Where else do you look for pants? I dont' know exactly what you're looking for, but maybe you can try these (sorted by lowest price first): http://www.zappos.com/womens-pants-clothing~1x?zfcTest=gs...
They are very cute, classic with some spunk. I could see living in those all summer.
Being petite they will fall at the right capri length, versus a shorts length. On me they would be a couple of inches above my knees.
I think they are cute! I'm 31 and would totally wear them :)
I'm 41 and think they look fine. Nothing too cutesy about them.
You might take a look at Talbot's, Land's End and J. Jill, if you decide to get more. All make capris that are designed for adult women.
the style is fine. if the fit works, go for it!

Def capris and cute!
Go for it. They are really nice. I would wear them and i'm 36. :-) You could mix it up with some really cute tops.
I don't think they look like kids, but I don't like that big roll up on the bottom. It looks like they are high waters that you turned into capri's. I wouldn't buy them.
JMO,
Dawn
I am 41 and would wear them. I live in jeans for the winter and stay in touch with fashion. I dont have the money to be supertrendy right now. BUt I think they are fine. A little tweak on a classic, which is always a good thing
I think they are great and seem age appropriate. I was excepting them to have glitter hearts and bedazzled stones on them. I would wear them, except for the fact I have chicken legs and they would look awful on me.
Just be aware that kid sizes don't usually have any curves for hips.
Some of my friend by their summer shorts in the men's section of h store. They are usually longer and not as form fitting. They don't always fit me in the waist so I can't do that. I need a stretchy pant...lol.
I think these will be fine but since you are going to be living in them all summer it won't hurt to have some different pants/shorts too.
They look just right to me.......
you know what, I realized the best thing to do would be to get them, then try them on with several diff tops. I've found clothing can look very different once its on you, regardless of what age it may be for. oh! also, if you don't have much luck, try looking at the gap they have slim, and petite sizes in all he pants, capris etc. good luck Lucy!
Cute. Not kid-like at all.
Good for you looking for pretty clothes for yourself!!
I see you have a lot of replies and I haven't read them. Just throwing in my 2 cents! My personal rule is to never buy clothes that are cut for kids or juniors. Even if you think they fit, they probably don't really. I know being petite makes it harder, but there are tons of great brands that now offer petite sizing. J. Crew and Boden are two that immediately come to mind. They may only offer petites on-line, but by the link I see you don't mind on-line shopping. And the styles are not overly trendy, more classic. I would encourage you to shop around women's lines a little harder. Kids and teens don't have hips, breasts, or curves - period. And their clothes are cut accordingly. No matter how small your frame, you are still built like a woman - and you should dress like it. JMO since you asked : )
