Peppermint-type bark. Save *all* the candy canes in a ziploc until November. Then unwrap them and crush them to smithereens. Melt a layer of dark chocolate (the melting chocolate you can find at the grocery), pour it into a foil-lined cookie sheet, and let it cool thoroughly. Melt a layer of light chocolate, pour it over the dark chocolate, and sprinkle crushed candy in abundance. Refrigerate, break into pieces, and store in tins until it's time to box the pieces up and give them to friends and neighbors. The peppermint is the traditional flavor, but the fruity canes add a little surprise "pop" that is really pleasing.
