So What Happened?

Thank you everyone for your encouraging responses! Made me feel a lot better. I really liked the idea about rolling up a blanket to prop her with, i'll definately try that. and maybe every time i try she's too tired for it and i dont realize.... Thanks again! I love this site and all you mamas!

Congrats on the new baby! I remember it being sort of on and off with my DD too. I would make sure she isn't too tired at the time you are trying tummy time. Right when she wakes up and has a bottle would be good. But if she doesn't like it anymore, I wouldn't worry about it let her do something else and just keep trying it occasionally. I was trying to do it every day, 2x for 10-15 min each right from the start because the books said to do it daily. My DR told me to give it a rest and lighten up!

Lots of moms find their kidlets love tummy time on mommy's or daddy's chest. Lots of touch, giggling, eye contact, talk, right up there where the big people are, and mom or dad gets to get off their feet for awhile. Try this while reclining or semi-reclining; both are great.

My DS HATED it. Always - right up until he rolled over at 5-1/2 months. But it is really important to do. You can just try talking to her, moving her hands, smiling, etc.

yeah it's totally normal. My first daughter did the same thing. Was rolling over by 2 months but then by 4 months hated it and wouldn't do it anymore. I asked the doc about it and he said it's common and not a big deal. He said basically it's like they master a skill and then get bored with it. My daughter never really rolled much after that point but was sitting up on her own by 6 months and walking by 9 months. (she never crawled) Now she's 4 and a smart, happy girl. So it's no big deal and doesn't mean that she will be slow with anything or not hit other milestones.

My daughter hated tummy time too. She never liked being on the floor. She never did crawl and was pulling herself up to cruise at 7 months.

All four of my kids HATED tummy time and all four did just fine with lifting their head, sitting, crawling, walking, etc. In fact I had two of them sitting on their own without support by 16 weeks with very little tipping.

You just have a baby that likes to see what is going on and tummy time does not allow for much of that. I have a daughter that is 5 months old this week and is sitting without tipping and trying to crawl already and never once did tummy time. Just work with what you got! = )

Have fun.

My son's the opposite, he hated it at first, now doesn't mind it. But I wouldn't worry, lots of babies hate tummy time! :) congrats mom!
