Ok, so I'm planning a mini-vacation for our family at the beginning of May. We have ALOT of things we need/ want to accomplish in our short time there. We unfortunately are only going to have one maybe two days at most to spend at Disney as we will only have about 3.5 days in FL during our trip. My MIL lives in FL about 45 minutes from Disney, so we will be staying with her and going to the beach a little as well. We will be in FL from early Friday until sometime on Monday.... So basically I'm thinking we will have to do Disney on Saturday / Sunday. Does anyone have any experience from doing Disney on a weekend at that time of year? Is it crazy to think its possible?? Is one day better than the other?? We are driving in from NC on that Friday..... so even though we plan to arrive early in FL I don't think its a good idea to try & go to Disney then. Any advice or info would be much appreciated!!!!
Thanks for all the insight. I completely agree that its not going to be enough time. I have never been to Disney myself so I'm sure I'll be in awe as much as the kids. Unfortunately we do not have longer this time around. When my husband got laid off in the fall he lost his vacation time. We however had already planned this trip, but have had to shorten it.... seeing as even though he's back to work, we can't afford for him to take too many days unpaid. Believe me if I have my way we will not put off going back in the near furture. My MIL does live in Florida so I don't see us waiting more than a couple years at most before we're back in the area. Our kids are only five & three at this time so I'm sure they will have a good time no matter how long we have. Thanks again!

We are going the first week of May as well. I have checked the times and they are only open until 5 pm on Friday so you may not want to go then. Mondays are usually good days to go too. I think no matter when you go or what time of year it will be busy. I have been doing some research and the first few weeks of May are lower in attendance so it may not be so bad. I use mousesavers.com for information.

I went to Disney years ago... I think we went in April/May sometime in there.. It was super busy....And if you are going on the weekend...It will probably be REALLY busy lol... Two days just isn't enough in my opinion...There is so much to see and so much to do..And since you are alresdy spending the money..You really need to do it all! It's amazing lol.

Early May is not too bad. It's the spring break times in April that are HORRIBLE! I agree 2 days is way too short a time to spend there. Depending on kid ages and interests, consider one park/one day option. Magic Kingdom for the toddler/early schoolage, EPCOT for later elementary/middle school ages, Animal Kingdom and Disney Studios for schoolage into high school years. Good luck, and please do not put off going back when you have more time to spend. And as soon as possible!!

the best time to go to disney is on a weekday. if there is any way you can possibly leave Thursday? or maybe leave on tuesday? otherwise you will find the park to very busy. tip- try the fast pass for rides. you just go up to a ride and grab tickets for the next time the ride has for express and you will be able to go to the express line at that time. It really cuts the wait time on line. also- make sure you bring autograph books for the kids to get the characters to sign. it is cheaper if you buy them at one of the gift stores outside of the park. you can also get stuffed animals there as well as other souveniers for a lot cheaper. if you are planning a lunch or dinner with characters-book in advance in order to make sure you have a spot. bring water bottles/small snacks for kids in your backpack/diaper bag. if you have a little girl, they have a princess store in the front of the park where you can have your little girl dressed up like a princess! it's about $40 but she gets to be a princess all day!! also-last thing, i suggest buying those raincoats at the outside souvenier shop. trust me- it will rain even if it's for 30 minutes and disney charges a lot for those. let me know if you have any other questions. i have been to disney a TON of times!

We just went in Jan. for 3 days. 3 DAYS WAS PLENTY in our opinion! We did Magic Kingdom the first day. MGM and Animal Kingdom the 2nd day. And MGM and back to Magic Kingdom the 3rd day.
Our kids are 4 1/2 and 2 1/2 so we skipped Epcot. We went on a Tues, Wed, and Thurs. By Thurs, there were a TON more people at the parks than at the beginning of the week. So, both Sat. and Sun. will more than likely be really busy.
I suggest doing a character meal if you can get reservations. You need to call EXACTLY 90 days prior to the day you want to do it to get in! They fill fast. We did Cinderella's Royal Table and it was so worth it. The smile on our daughters' face couldn't have gotten any bigger!
Check out the Unofficial Guide to Disney from the library! We followed the "plan" on our first day and it was great. There is a ton of useful info in that book.
