I stepped on the scale today and was so happy to see that I was down another 5 lbs--and had finally reached my pre-pregnancy weight for baby #3. I patted myself on the back for a minute, and then realized the freakin scale was leaning against the wall...so I pulled it out, stepped on again, and those 5 lbs came right back!

ARGH!!!!

So, let's hear it...what good news/achievement have you been tricked into celebrating and then realized it wasn't correct/true?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

these aren't vanity pounds--I really need to lose a significant of weight for my health--mostly for my poor knees and back, plus I have the dangerous belly-fat in epic proportions :-(

@ Blessed Mama - haha, I have about 33 lbs more to go to get down to pre-pregnancy for baby #1 :) -- and then another 50 to get to my ideal weight

Even when I DID get down to my pre-pregnancy weight, my body was still not in pre-pregnancy shape, still had that nice little muffin top going on and a lovely semi double chin.

But, I do always have very nice eyebrows, so there is always that ;)

Oh, another concert thing, I was sooo excited one of my fav bands was playing in Houston, only 20 mins from me. Then, about 20 mins later, I realized it was Houston STREET... in New York. Nevermind.

Oh it's only 5 lbs, you've done great! Everyone has a 5-10 pound window of normal fluctuation... I say, you've done it!! ;)

I got really, REALLY excited when I found out that Flogging Molly was playing in Richmond a few weeks ago. I was like 'YES! THEY'RE FINALLY HERE! I'VE GOT TO MAKE THIS CONCERT!!'... then I realized that 1-they were playing in less than 4 hours, 2-I was dead broke, 3-my husband was fishing, 4-I didn't have a babysitter, 5-it was a school night.... the list just went on and on and on, I was so bummed!!

Oh honey, I can't stay the same weight for 10 minutes! If only we could stop measuring our self worth by what size jeans we wear, sigh. When you learn how, let me know, k?

I have been weighing myself once a week to make sure I am staying on track with my pregnancy (making sure I am gaining the right amount) But for most women I wish I could make scales extinct. I spent years agonizing over the scale. I weighed 145pds at a height of 5ft2. So I was overweight bordering on obese for someone my age according to weight charts and BMI calculators. But guess what. I wore a size 4 in pants (a 3 in skirts) and a x-small on top. I could fit my fist under my ribcage....overweight...I don't think so. The scale is not some all knowing entity. If you want to make sure you are at a healthy size. use pants size...its actually more acurate then the scale anyway. If I am trying to loose weight I buy a pair of pants that I can slip on but can't button to save my life, and every couple weeks I try them on. When they fit then I celebrate! (I have lost 150 pds between the age of 18-and 22 and then gained 125 pds during my first pregnancy and lost all but 10pds of that, but like I mentioned I was very thin, and using "someday, maybe, eventually" pants as I like to call them instead of a scale has been a real sanity saver)

Totally the opposite for me.. I was at almost 6 1/2 months pregnant and was still fitting in my regular jeans.. so I'd been watching my weight closely and had only gained 8 lbs up to that point (per my scales and clothes etc) so I went to the doctor, stepped on the scale and she said I'd gained 12 pounds in 2 weeks.. WHAT?! So not 12 pounds total.. the 8 I thought PLUS 12.. I was crushed! So I went back two weeks later and turns out the scale was off, for 2 weeks I felt like trash because I was SO proud then wrong, so now when I weigh there I take it with a grain of salt!

Oh, no! Yeah, I got to a milestone, weight-wise, and I was happy about it. In-laws came to visit & FIL says "your scale is off -- it's 5 lb too low." Spoilsport!

But I was wearing the "target" clothes in my closet, so maybe HE'S wrong. :/

I say ditch the scale. I never found out how much weight I gained during pregnancy or lost thereafter. It kept me sane. I focused on exercise and eating right. When I exercise it gives me a great sense of well-being that eminates from the inside out.

Note to self: Always shove scale up against the wall before stepping on. :)

Seriously though, you are doing great. My daughter is..ahem...17 months old and I WISH I was within 5 pounds of my pre-pregnancy weight...sigh...

Oh and Tracy K...right there with ya girl...so depressed on Sunday! Oh well, at least our Rangers are still hanging in there!

My baby #3 is 6mos old, and I'm 5lbs away from pre-pregnancy weight from baby #1. Even if I ever get back to that weight, my body is totally different and I'll be "tricked" in that way! I never had a flat stomach, but everything is in the middle and so squishy..and I'm too pooped and not very motivated to get on the elliptical at night. At the same time, I gained a lot of weight after #1, so I'm very happy to be at my current weight.
