We are having a neighborhood yard sale in a few weeks. Any tips to bring in the big bucks? This will be our 3rd year and my 4th yard sale. I just want to make sure I am not overlooking anything and if you have any great tips please share!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you for all of the wonderful tips! I made almost $300 and got rid of a lot of stuff! My friend made a little over $100. We donated the leftovers. :)

Hang clothes up whenever possible, sorted by size, style, etc. Tidy up after every few people to make sure things are neat.

Locally I see some people listing their yard sale on Craig's list and some of the items. Good idea I think. Good luck

My family are yard sale vultures. My mom even said she took me yard saling when I was a week old! She was over the top with it though. LOL. Craigs list is great and all, but I have found a lot of older people love to go to yard sales and they may not be computer literate (my inlaws would be the prime example of this). I would post an ad in the newspaper. I also love it when I see signs (brightly colored and clear directions) to find my way to the house, especially if you dont live off a main road. Good Luck!

We just had one. Post on Craigs List. As far as pricing, my personal thoughts are is you won't get more than 10 - 20% of the current retail price. So I did some research the night before and a couple of key items and had prices ready and knew in advance how much I was willing to accept. If you have the box for the items, that will usually make it worth more.

Of course make sure things are clearly labled. Putting small items like pajama sets and such in clear gallon ziplock bad with size is the best. Be sure to label anything that"s name brand. Hanging clothes, especially kids clothes will get them to go fast. Make sure everyone has their initials on their tags and hangers. We move things around if they're not selling, we set things up so people can see them. Be sure to put up birght, but simple signs. If you can put it in the paper and on craigslist it will help a lot. Good luck! Have the kids sell cookies too!

If you have a lot of "Stuff" Rent 6ft or 8 ft tables... People do not like to bend over to look at things. also it looks more important if it is up off of the ground..

Make it look as organized as possible. Die hard yard sale shoppers know exactly what they are looking for. Group items in categories.. Kitchen bath , linens, yard stuff, kids clothes,
