Can you please give me some suggestions on what to get a 2yr old. We do not do much gifts. I was thinking of maybe getting him a leapfrog tag reader thing. Do you think he would be to young?
Thank You all for the help. I am not sure what i am going to get him. We already have a play kitchen with lots of pretend food, we have tons of books and tons of colors, markers etc. I have two boys so you can just imagine the cars, trucks etc they have. Thanks again for your help.

I think he's probably too young for the tag reader. I have a 2 year old boy too. My ideas for him are: books, puzzles, a play kitchen with all the accessories, an art easel with art supplies, a small table and chairs, some DVDs of his favorites (Thomas, Elmo, Veggie Tales). I wish we had more space because I would love to get him a play tent, he would adore that.

Our gifts last year were not too ramped up for our 2-year old: a couple of cars, pj's, easy puzzles, a couple of books. Some of the things weren't even new - I found 2 Melissa & Doug puzzles on Craigslist...he doesn't care if they are brand new at that age!

If you go to Amazon, you can browse through 'gifts by age' - great resource, great ideas, and easy to order. :)

Suggested age for the lapser is 4-8 years old. IMO, 2 is too young. I agree with Molly. Easy puzzles, books. How about art supplies? A big pad of paper and markers or crayons? Play dough?

I think the tag is too old for a 2yo. I am planning on getting my 2 yo nephew a little tikes table. It is the one that is adjustable and can either be a picnic table or tilt and be an art easel (sp). I figure it can grow with him.

lots of great ideas so far! I agree that the leapfrog is too old for him.
I would focus on the joy of reading books! There are so many great options out there...& since he's 2, I would stick with board books.
What about picking a theme? Does he like trucks, cars, big equipmt? Does he prefer animals? Pick one theme & base the gifts on it. If you choose trucks, then you can get him jammies or a shirt with a truck on it. You could get him bedding with trucks on it. You could make a fleece blanket with trucks. & then there's all those wonderful Tonka big trucks! Love them!
If animals are his fav, then you can get the little rubber animal playsets. Buy an unusual stuffed animal. Get a monkey to hang from his curtain/light. There are even games with animal themes!
& with either theme....there are 50million books to go along with them!

Well our 2 year old just loves books (Richard Scarry's Best Story Book Ever is her favorite right now). She also loves her push car she can sit on and scoot around on. She also LOVES her toy shopping cart and pretend food and little toy dishes. She plays with that a lot.
