I think you should put it on the front. People don't always look at the back, LOL! Congrats on the baby!

Prepping our Christmas cards and need help with the wording is it tacky to say merry Christmas and happy new year over a pic of our son and on the reverse under a pic of the three of us John, Jane, DS and baby B. (due January 2016)?
Thanks a bunch

I think you're asking if its weird to say "Merry Christmas ... " on both sides. I usually create our card on Walmart's website, and I just use a one sided card. I've received cards from families that have pictures on both sides, but I honestly can't remember the details of the wording.
Honestly? I really wouldn't give a hoot! I just like receiving cards. If they have pictures of the family? Even better!
ETA - Sounds like others think you're asking about how to announce baby. When I was pregnant with #2, I took a picture of our oldest standing in front of the Christmas tree, holding a green stocking that said "Baby" on it. I thought it was pretty cute, and as far as I know everyone understood.
I probably would do the merry Christmas/seasons greetings/happy holidays (whatever you say) on the front, and Best wishes for 2016 from our family (names) to yours ...on back?
I don't see it as tacky. We did a version of that for years with our kids when little. They never would sit still and hated Christmas hats, so for years we gave out pictures of them that were spoofs I guess of the traditional Christmas poses. People still have them up. I think most people enjoy a picture at Christmas - and that sounds cute.
I will say, we get a lot of tacky Christmas cards. I still put them up. I find them very festive anyhow :)
A few years back I got a card from a friend who stated: Jack, Jill, Jane and ? and happy holidays with a picture.
So it is not tacky. They just didn't put the month due on the card. Just that there was a ? of a new arrival coming.
May you have a great holiday season and a safe and speedy delivery. Do keep us posted.

PS I miss the decorations of the City but not the rushing around in slushy snow and such.
i get about 4 christmas cards just like what your describing. a pic on the front with merry christmas or happy holidays, then a second pic with the families names. i love the simplicity and thought. a pic is worth a thousand words!
what i hate is a 3 page book bragging about what that family has got going on... they say to me "look what were doing.. were better than you!" if your sending an update letter keep it short and sweet and don't be a bragger in it.
I can't think of a reason it would be tacky. It sounds nice to me.
I think sending a photo inside a Christmas card is okay. But are you saying you are taking a photo of kiddo and then printing a family photo on the other side and that is your Christmas card?
If this is your plan then I think I would enclose a note in the envelope to each family with a special Merry Christmas to your family. This way it is a Christmas greeting and not just sending a photo.
a 2-sided picture card?
not sure i've ever seen that.
but i certainly don't see anything tacky in your scenario. why would there be?
some folks are superstitious about including impending babies in christmas cards, but if you're not, then why not?
i honestly can't remember whether i did or not, on that one year i was preggo over the holidays.

That's what my daughter and son in law did on last year's holiday cards.
Sounds like it works to me..
I usually put a picture on the back of just the kids (even if the front is also a picture of just the kids) that is smaller and I list their ages.
