I am currently in my 30th week of pregnancy and have a horrible yeast infection. Ive read that Monistat is safe to use, but my grandma bought me the one day treatment and Im afraid it wont be effective because i keep hearing i should have used a 7 day treatment. Somebody help! Ive had the infection for a month now and i just want it to go away. :(

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well, Jessica R., u r correct. I simply called my OB and she prescribed something over the phone. She said the one day treatment usually isnt effective enough. Since then ive finished the medication and it seems 2 b clearing up. I am much better now.

I would go see the doctor immediately! Any kind of infection and your body being under stress is effecting the baby! the doctor or nurse may know a better solution to the problem, it could be some other type infection!
I didn't have any symtoms of anything and started having contractions with my second pregnancy mild ones but I knew what it was. Went to hospital and turns out I had some sort of bacterial infection on my girl parts, can't remember the name of it, they had to give me antibiotics and guess what, if left untreated it causes premature labor...with rest and laying down my contractions stopped and I never dilated, but that was scary and they had to treat me during my deliver with antibiotics too since I had had the infection during my pregnancy, that was no fun at all!
Go to the doctor ASAP!

Edit:
So sorry to hear that! Well the monistat is safe to use, but if your insurance will allow you to see another doctor then do so, or demand that the original doc do some tests...Which I know can be hard to do, you don't want to be bossy to someone who is suppose to deliver your baby and you should trust your doctor. The thing I have learned over the years is that I have to be my own advocate and speak up and be heard even when I don't know what is wrong but know something is wrong, doctor are very often not right and sometimes don't understand what we are feeling or going through. good luck honey!

Over the counter remedies are okay to use, but I would recommend calling your OB-GYN to get something prescription strength since you've had it for so long; they can be particularly difficult to deal with during pregnancy. They should be able to call it to your pharmacy without having to be seen in the office! Good luck!

Have you not seen your doctor in a whole month? I would think they would have done something about it!!! At the least, give them a call and see what they say. The doctor will be more effective then a store! They might have something stronger to give you.

It could be something more then that, although it's not likely. Wouldn't you want to know for sure? Really, call your dr.

My OB/GYN didn't recommend using it while pregnant.
Try adding a cup of plain yogurt to your bath water.
Your skin will love it and it really helps get the yeast under control.

Are you sure it is a yeast infection? If your doc checked and didn't see any signs of a yeast infection then maybe it is something else and that is why the treatment didn't work. I'd continue to bring it up and/or switch doctors and see what is going on.

FYI, normally switching doctors this late is REALLY difficult to do.
