Hello, well Christmas is around the corner and my husband and I are trying to decide what in the world to buy our daughter! She will be about 20 months old at the time of gift opening. Our plan is to spend no more than $100, maybe getting her 2-3 gifts total. Not a big fan of going crazy with gifts for kids :)

Right now she REALLY loves playing with the iTouch/iPhone. Will sit FOREVER playing with the darned thing. She has always enjoyed real cell phones, and won't even mess with the toy ones. We would like to get her something that is educational, maybe encourages physical activity. Any suggestions on what your kids like or have enjoyed in the past?

TIA!

What can I do next?

She totally doesn't care and won't remember. Better to sock the money away in a college fund or something. lol. No matter what you get, she'll prefer the wrapping and the paper. Get her some books. Reading to her is one of the most educational things you can do.

My kids enjoyed Duplo, the Lego version for young ones.

At this age, there usually more interested in the wrapping paper and box then the toys (LOL). I agree with the other poster- $30-50 is plenty at this age. They don't really understand the holiday, and will just get a kick out of what's happening. Kids this age LOVE bubbles generally - perhaps one of those bubble machines that makes LOTS of bubbles - makes them run around trying to catch them. Enjoy!

I would actually only buy her about $30 worth of stuff. Buy her one good gift and then a couple of small things. She has a birthday 4 months after Christmas and I'm sure she'll get a ton of stuff from other people. While she's young, don't go overboard. I'm sure she'll be overwhelmed even if you only spend half your original budget.

My daughter is 23 months old right now and loves the Ball Popper toy (I think it is from Fisher Price). She also loves Mardi Gras beads. She also has a cardboard "crown" from school that she loves to wear. I'm planning on getting my daughter a "princess skirt" and a boa for playtime for xmas.

My daughter also LOVES books right now (especially the ones with the flaps where she can lift something and see what is underneath). And honestly, my son and my daughter can play with tennis balls together for HOURS.

Good luck!

I totally understand the desire to want something educational and electronic because she enjoys yours! She has years of electronics ahead of her, however, you might want to look at the Leapfrog products. My children have loved the Leap Pad, Tag books, and the Leapster when they were a little older.

At 2, my daughter's favorite things to play with were dress up clothes, puzzles, and babydolls. My mother got her a Disney Princesses dress up set that was fairly in expensive that had dresses, shoes and tiaras and she was thrilled for hours on end.

We also got her a play kitchen and she has cooked many meals for us since then.

If you live near a Learning Express store, I would recommend going in and exploring. Even if you don't buy anything there you can get great, age-appropriate ideas.

Happy shopping!

We are planning on getting our 19 month old a wagon. I am also going to get her the purse that counts and holds "lipstick" and stuff. I forget who makes it. Books are also a good choice. Good Luck and rememeber to have fun with her this holiday season.
