How long will a fractured wrist hurt? I have only ever broke a finger and that was 20 years ago. Thanks!

What can I do next?

For the first few days after I fractured my wrist I took narcotic pain meds my doctor prescribed. I think after about a week I had absolutely no pain at all.
Feel better.

edit - my tibia (shin bone) was surgically broken about 12 weeks ago and it still hurts. All breaks are different.

Depends on the severity of the break. When I fractured my wrist, it was fairly minor... Big crack through the main bone and into my growth plate, but no clean breaks. It hurt for about 3-4 weeks... But not much after that. For the most part. Sometimes it gets achy when a nasty storm is coming.

It's usually much worse in the beginning when there is so much inflammation and damage to the surrounding tissues, not just the bone. As that subsides, you kind of get into a lull with recovery, just waiting it out. I've had great luck with a natural anti-inflammatory for all kinds of things from athletic injuries to headaches. Keep it elevated when the throbbing is worse.

agreed that all breaks are different. i broke my ankle in a horseriding accident like 20 some years ago and under the right circumstances it still pains me, cold damp days for example. it's nothing a quick motrin doesn't resolve in 10 - 15 minutes...though. sorry you got an owie...and i hope you are mended very soon. :-) S.
