M..
Right after I had the baby I put on a pair of jeans and my husband said "What are you getting all dressed up for?"
Now thats bad! Yeah, I should probably dress up more.
So apparently throwing on a nice shirt, stretch pants, heels, and jewelry goes a loooong way.
I traded in my normal attire of jeans and a tank top for this, since it's 'open house' at the kids school in an hour.
When my husband got home, I ran a few simple errands... pharmacy, grocery store, ABC store.
Well first, my husband was like 'WHOA!! Looking good!'... then the manager at CVS, who I swear doesn't remember me from the next guy even though I'm in there 4x a week, was like 'You look fancy'... at Food Lion, the cashier actually suddenly REMEMBERED MY NAME, complimented me on 'cleaning up nicely'... the guys that work at the ABC store were FLOORED, like, had to pick their jaws up off the floor.
Who's have thought a little wardrobe change and some nice jewels made a difference! I'm not even wearing make up!!
Has this ever happened to you? Did you stop and think, afterwards, that maybe you should get dress a little more often? Does your husband notice when you do something a little differently?
Too bad it's Tuesday, I'd love to hit the town now, thank YOU self esteem boost, LOL!! ;)

My fav is when they say "Oh you look so PRETTY!!" like it's shocking. hehe
yes - dressing up and cleaning up can be a huge esteem booster - I rarely do it either since I rarely leave my house anymore.
Take that warm vibe and make some use of it! :-)
I definitely notice that the level of customer service goes up when I'm dressed up.
Good for you!! Go have a glass of wine.
It does work wonders when someone boosts your self esteem.
Good one.
Yah, my Husband does not notice that I clean up nicely... until... we are out somewhere and then, other people/guys, notice ME.
Ha... ha.
He's a Husband, who doesn't even notice when I wear make-up or not or have lost weight.
At least your Husband, noticed.
Oh yes, I've noticed this. I had an early morning work meeting one day that meant I had to dress up and even wear make-up. On the way home I decided I would stop by Target and pick up some things. Everyone wanted to "help me" and I got a lot of complimentary looks. It almost made it worth getting fixed up for, but not quite. I really like to be comfortable...
I'm guilty of going to the People of Wal Mart website when I need a laugh. :) Somedays I put a bit more effort into how I look and wish my husband didn't work until 11. I'm home by 6 and by the time he's off work I'm not wearing my slutty heels or nice slacks. Too bad. I should make more of an effort on his day off.
I work in a mostly female and very positive work environment so we all notice each other. I like to see that people take pride in their appearances, not even "dressing up," but staying clean and well-groomed (combed hair, even if it is in a pony tail, clothes are cleanish--I've walked around with candy cane drippings hardened all over my shoulder from a small child and it is yucky).
I know exactly what you mean. Try going shopping when you've made that wardrobe change....I have noticed a difference in how I'm treated & even the "may I help you" comes alot more frequently than when I'm dressed in my oh so comfortable jeans!
That reminds me of when I would wear business suits and heels to work instead of casual wear and sneakers when we had important meetings. On those days, men who I'd never met before were smiling at me and saying "hi" as I passed them in the hallway, and I got doors held open for me all over the place. It was kinda weird, actually, to realize and experience how "visual" men are, if you know what I mean.
I know what you mean!!! I had my hair straightened and you would have thought I magically turned into Cinderella or something :) Good for you :) A definite ego boost.
Good for you love!
I know right! When I actually shave my legs and lady parts I feel glorious! It so helps me feel better about me! We had my sons birthday party Saturday and I wore something other than a hanes t shirt and flip flops and all I heard was how nice I looked. Made my day! Have a fabulous evening and work it girl!
All I can say is
YOU GO MAMA!! ROCK IT!
My hubby notices when I wear a short skirt or dress....then grabs for his wallet and/or checkbook and says "rot roh!! raggy!! what do you want now?!?" ESPECIALLY if I say "Hey Bobby!!!" in a long drawl......
LOL!!!
ROCK IT MAMA!!!
Yes, I get the exact same reaction (minus from hubby, he doesn't notice much) from those around me when I "dress up".
Normally I wear either capris or jeans or khakis & a decent t-shirt or sweater on a daily basis, but once in a while, like you, I'll put on nice slacks, chunky heels & jewelry. It doesn't happen often because it's not what I'm ultimately comfortable in (or can afford) but it's always nice to be noticed when you make the extra effort.
Yes my hubby would be so jealous that I receive compliments from 1 guy everytime I go to use the valet service at the local hospital for my therapy & prenantal appts. He has me thinking that i'm hot now
Appearance does make a difference, and you DO feel better when you make that effort. It's because of our society tho, so I still go more for comfort than style, but IT does feel good to get that recognition from time to time. Not worth it to me to dress up every day for it tho, better just to get the "fix" every now and then...
Now for your SEXY pj's dilemma... haha..... Just hop in bed with what you got on, obviously husband was impressed ;)
When I was younger it happened quite often. But it's been a long time since I've tried. I prefer to just be natural. If no one likes it, I could care less. When I see the pictures of the stars and other famous people that don't have make-up on, I'm horrified at how bad so many of them look. I believe that make-up is bad for the skin and that people should be used to what we actually look like.
haha yes. my pharmacy guy always remembers my name:). he is polite too when I look like I got hit by a truck. I don't think I look bad even when I don't try at all. But a lil makeup goes a long way. good for you. no need to hit the town. open a bottle of beer, kick back and relax
Oh yeah, I know what you mean. I got a part time job office job after not working for almost 3 years and I LOVE looking like a lady now. Hair, makeup, cute shoes, jewelry. It takes maybe 10-15 extra minutes, but I feel SO much better about myself.
