You're right. We agreed to pay 1 semester and that is what we will pay. Thanks ladies!

What can I do next?

If I was pulling my kid due to a bad teacher and an incompetent principal, then I certainly wouldn't pay them a dime more than I was contractually obligated to! Maybe they'll get straightened out, and maybe they won't, but if enough people pull their kids, some changes will be made. When those changes are made, you shouldn't be looked at poorly as long as you held up your end of the contract.

There's a reason you have a contract. It says you pay one semester, that's what you do.

Do you pay one semester or are you contractually obligated for one semester. If the agreement is one year, paid in two increments then you must pay for the whole year.

Having said that they may have breached the contract on their end. What you have to do is look at the terms of the agreement. There is also an element of reasonable expectations. Thing is if it isn't spelled out in the agreement you need an attorney to determine what is reasonable.

9 and 10 year olds can certainly 'grow up' in a classroom setting. I have taught every age group from nursery on up to 18 years old, and so far my 9-10 year old class is the worst. Is this teacher not licensed/credentialed? If not, it seems like that would be a reason to break the contract, as they have not held up their end and that is what you likely signed up for. Either way, the extra work doesn't really make sense, do you mean the teacher is giving the parent's extra work that he himself is failing to do? It isn't very clear. As for paying the whole year, it stipulates one semester. I suppose all you can do is read the fine print.
