Would You Have the Ovaries to Say Something? Lol

I have been looking for my beloved sunglasses for 4 days now. I know the last time I had them, I was in the backyard playing with the kids. It was suuuuper windy and they kept blowing off my head, so I stuck them in my jacket pocket, and Im pretty sure they fell out while I was carrying the baby.
So, the neighbor that lives right next to me, her house I have to walk in between to get back in my door, today, is wearing the SAME exact sunglasses that I lost. If they are mine, I am not saying she stole them, she probably just found them.
I talked to her today and she was wearing them, and I thought about asking her where she bought them and see what she said. But then I thought of the awkward moment when she said she found them, and then I would say I lost them, and then she would take them off and give them to me. AWKWARD.
So, I dont have the nerve to say anything, because Im a chicken. They werent REAL expensive and I would rather buy a new pair than to comfront, because again, Im a baby.
I was just curious what normal people would do. lol :)

What can I do next?

Me personally? I'd be like 'holy sh!t, I JUST lost the EXACT pair like two days ago, you didn't happen to find them along here, did you? Can you believe that? Oh wow, thanks, small world, right?' (as I'm taking my glasses back)...

"Oh my gosh! Those look just like the sunglasses I lost when I was playing with the kids the other day. You didn't happen to find those, did you?" Then listen to her explanation. If she says she found them, she will offer them back. If she denies it, then that's that!

If you're up for it, I don't think that this is too nervy.

(When she's not wearing them): "Hey, Susan, would you mind keeping an eye out for my sunglasses? They were (whatever) brand and I had them on my head the other day out here, and somehow lost them!" I'm sure she will say, "Oh, shoot! Those were YOURS? Let me run inside and grab them!" Done! ;)

I don't know if I am normal, but that's what I would do.

I would have just said "Oh I love your glasses! I just lost a pair exactly like that just the other day!" And see what she says. And if they weren't that expensive and I was feeling nice AND she "confessed" to finding them in the yard, then I'd let her keep them and get a new pair.

I don't think you are a chicken.

I personally would buy a new pair....especially if you do not want confrontation. In fact, it doesn't NEED to be a confrontation!! You can tell her - Hey Jane!! Those look like the glasses I lost last week on that really windy day!!! If she fesses up that she found 'em - great!! If not - no love lost, right?

It's not like that Vaurnet's that were taken from my desk at work one day many moons ago!! And we all know how expensive those bad boys are!!!

if i loved them (as i do the pair i have now) i might say something like, "OMG! you didn't find those sunglasses out here somewhere, did you? i lost a pair just like that on "X" day!" if she says no, let her say no, as if it's the most natural thing in the world. maybe she really did buy them! if she says yes, *voila*, you got your glasses back!

but i'm like you, i'd probably just buy another pair. apparently she liked them lol.

If this is a neighbor you talk to, I would say..."I love your sunglasses. I plan to buy a pair because I had a pair like them and lost them one day playing w/ the kids." Just say it casually. She may say "Oh, wow, they are probably yours". If she doesn't, maybe they aren't.

Can you catch her when she is NOT wearing them and say "hey, have you seen a stray pair of sunglasses around? I lost mine the other day when I was out in the yard with the kiddos and can't find them anywhere"

but.........I would probably just buy a new pair :)

Next time you see her (when she is not wearing the sunglasses) tell her that you misplaced your sunglasses and that maybe you lost them in the yard somewhere and that they may have blown over to her yard. She may then say that she found a pair and give them right back to you or she may give them back a couple days later pretending that she just found them. Or maybe she won't give them back at all, but then she'll probably not be able to wear them anymore when you are around. But if she keeps wearing them around you, chances are that she bought them.

I'm not sure if that's the "normal" thing to do, but I think that's what I would do. Oh, and I still would go out and buy another pair of glasses. You can't have too many pairs of sunglasses.

"Hey, Peggy, I lost glasses just like the ones you are wearing, the other day, I need a new pair and they don't have them anynore at the place where I first bought them. Could you tell me when you found yours?" Simple and unassuming (unless she has a dirty conscience, but that'e HER problem, not yours). Just throw the ball in her court.

I would wait until you see her WITHOUT them, then say something like, "hey, I lost my sunglass a week (or whenever) ago and I've looked all over the house but now think maybe I dropped them out here somewhere. If you happen to find them, will you leave them on the front porch for me? They were a bday gift and kind of sentimental." I bet they will show up if she has any kind of concious. =)

I think your question is racist...why only "normal" people?!
Doesn't my opinion count?!

I agree with others, just tell her that if by any chance she finds a pair of sunglasses like ----- to please let you know, as you just lost them the other day when playing with your kids.

Hi, I lost my sunglasses last week, you wouldn't have happened to have seen them? They must have fell out of my pocket. If she says no then let it go. :)

If she is wearing them. I lost a pair just like that last week when it was windy. Did you happen to find them?

Thing is they are sunglasses, if you find them you can't return them because who knows who they belonged to. It is not like you are accusing her of anything other than liking your sunglasses.

Well....I think now that you've seen her with the glasses and didn't say "Hey--keep an eye out for my sunglasses" or such, you have to buy a new pair. LOL You missed the "window" for the "OMG" moment! urgh.

I would have bitched about losing my sunglasses, not the specifics. Maybe she'd fess up that she found them. And if she didn't, you'd know what kind of person she is.

Well, I don't know how normal I am or not, but I would have played out the whole scenario in my head just like you did. Lol. Ultimately, since she did not steal them and they are not costly I would let it go and just buy a new pair. :o)
ETA.... I would try to buy the exact style I lost and make sure to wear them when I saw her. The hope is that she would comment on us having the same glasses or I would bring it up just so I could say, "Yeah, I lost my old pair like this so I just bought these". Hahaaaa :)

Yep, ask her if by chance she found some sunglasses the other day. That you lost them somewhere between your two houses. No biggie! :)
