I think that is a great present! my husband's grandparents had bees on their land and they gave everyone honey for Christmas one year- it was great! The best honey I had ever tasted.

My son just started preschool 3 weeks ago. He has 4 teachers and I am really short on cash this year. My father keeps bees and gives honey as presents. I would love to give each of them a small container of honey that has a pretty ribbon on it. The honey is completely natural and raised purely. Is this the equivelent of a mug? I really can't afford more than a 5 dollar gift card...is that a better present? I really appreciate them and don't want to offend them.
I really appreciate your feedback. I like to give presents that people can actually use, especially food or drinks. They do a great job with him and I like the suggestions you had.

Oh yum! That sounds like a great present! I would be very happy with it. You certainly won't offend anyone - they will be very pleased.
I would love to receive a homemade gift, especially food. I'm certain they will love it. Tie a ribbon with a little note saying where it comes from and you could also attach a recipe to the container! Google recipes that include honey and I bet you can come up with something great!
Make sure you put on a cute handwritten tag... that it is homegrown ORGANIC Honey... by your son's Grandpa... that would make it even more special... to me, at least.
What a treasure!
Neat-o gift!
good luck,
Susan
I think that's an awesome present.. most people love honey. My dad would go gaga over pure honey :)
First of all, I think they would love the honey - it's usable and unique, and something they can eat that they don't have to eat right away.
Second of all, I am sure they would love a note that lets them know how much you appreciate them. That's practically free and worth 100's of times it's weight in gold.
You sound very thoughtful.
I think it is a great present!!! In fact maybe you son could make the wrapping paper himself by decorating white butcher paper or something, or even wrap the jars with some inexpensive white material that he has decorated with fabric paint or something...and then have him make some bee themed Christmas cards (bees as elves or something). I would make sure to let them know that "grandpa makes his honey specially" so they know just what a real treasure it is (maybe something written in the card on on the label of the jar). It is perfect!
As a former preschool teacher, I would have been thrilled to have received a present like this! Gift cards are so impersonal in my opinion. Something like homemade all natural honey is so much better, especially if your son makes a card to go with it.
It's really the thought behind the present, not the money you spend. I still have every single picture that my students drew for me as presents during the holidays. Homemade gifts are so much more meaningful to teachers than spending a lot of money for a gift that might get tossed or forgotten about after a few months.
I say give the honey!
this is way better than a mug. this is something they can use and probably something they wouldn't splurge on on a regular basis. So I think its a great idea
I would LOVE to have your honey! I think that is a fantastic gift! Very thoughtful and personal. I wish you lived closer to me because I would want to buy some!
I would love to get a gift like that. I always can use honey.
I'm sure they'd love the honey.
I know I would!
Way better than a mug or gift card.
Just my opinion.
I LOVE natural honey especially with a bit of comb in it.
I use it for my tea!
Great gift....as a teacher myself, I would love it!
I love homemade gifts-- I am sure they will LOVE It!
I think it's perfect!
That's a great gift! I'm sure they have many mugs, candles, and notecards from all the other kids.
That is a great gift for anyone and very thoughtful!
All natural? I would love it! ;)
I'd love a present like that!
In this instance I think it's better than a gift card...it's more personal! It's nice of you to think of them and I'm sure they'll love it!
I think that's a great present. Does your father live in the same area? I didn't read all of your responses to see if anyone else had pointed this out already, but in case they haven't, it's been proven that eating honey produced in the same area where you live will help with allergies. That could be a great added bonus for preschool teachers who are around sick kids and/or germs all the time and need all the help they can get for their immune systems :)
Awesome present! I love homemade gifts!
Great idea! I'm sure they will love it. Another alternative - baked goods (cookies, brownies, etc.)
I love the honey--maybe tie on a couple tea bags to the jar, that would look really cute. Use twine or something rustic looking and a hole punch =)
I think explaining that it is homemade honey -- made form local bees and local flowers etc. Sell the story behind the development of the honey. Along with your thanks for all they've done so far this year. Attach a small decorative note card that you can make and attach it to the pretty ribbon. I think that would make a nice gift. Or, as I think as I write, include a recipe for scones or biscuits along with the honey on the card.
Again, I think this is an appropriate and thoughful gift.
I am a teacher and I CAN ASSURE YOU that I would MUCH more enjoy something like this than another mug! I love when kids bring me something that they made or that I can really use (a book for the classroom, etc). I think it's a GREAT idea!
I think it is a great present! I would love to try homemade honey :)
This is truly one of the "sweetest" gifts suggested. I'd love a gift like that. It beats the 99 cent store gifts that I used to get when I was a teacher. Don't think twice about it. I also like the idea of the personal tag, that it is made at home. : )
I think that's an awesome present! You could even attach a little recipe or two.
Dear B.P. I think the natural honey is a great gift. Teachers get so many mugs and things...... besides you do what you can. Grandma Mary
I think that would be a lovely present.
As a former teacher I can tell you that I would appreciate a jar of honey more than anything you could buy in a store. However, the best gift is something made by your child. A card, a picture, an ornament, etc. As teachers we get WAY too many coffee mugs and knick-knacks. It is much more special to get something handmade. Now that I am a stay-at-home mom and my son has 5 therapists I am always doing something personal for them. This year I bought Christmas themed mini loaf pans from The Christmas Tree Shop for 89 cents. I am going to bake some cranberry orange bread and give it to them with an ornament my son made. Whatever you do, just keep it simple and it will be appreciated!
what a "sweet" idea! :) I love it. Many people are not able to do gifts this year, so I think you're idea is wonderful. Happy Holidays!

I would love to get a jar of pure honey. I think it is incredibly thoughtful and useful! I don't plan to spend much more than $5 and will be getting gift cards from target or dd with a small food item, but I think homemade honey would be better.
Give what you have...honey it is then. Shoot some my way...lol.
That is a wonderful present! I wish someone would give me a bottle of pure honey LOL!

:o) We're giving blackberry jam to all the high school teachers, all 8 of them. Honey is a wonderful present!!
IF I was any of your son's teachers I would LOVE to receive a jar of honey instead of another mug, or gift card! I think your idea is excellent! :)
As a teacher, I'd love a present like that, especially, as suggested before, you include a card or tag about where and how the honey was made, and have your son help you make the card or tag. It's thoughtful. You and your family took the time to make it, and that makes it special. A person can only use so many mugs! And I wouldn't think twice about doing it again! His teachers are going to love it!
I don't even like honey, and I would still think this is a thoughtful gift and would really appreciate it. Good luck!
If I were them, I would be thrilled to get a gift I can use up. I'm sure they get all kinds of things they have no use for. This sounds perfect.
I think it's a gREAT gift. 10000x better than anything you'd buy!
Fresh honey is an awesome gift!
I think it's a great personal gift.....I would like it better then a mug. If you wanted to add something you could put a few lottery tickets in a card for them too. Just a little something extra, and people seem to really like it. I def wouldn't stress about it.
I think the honey is a great idea! My son had 3 teachers in pre-school last year and we gave cookies and a handmade ornament (reindeer made of foam paper and pipe cleaners) to each of them.
i would appreciate it. and a small $5 fruit basket to go with it or a box of food you can get at the dollar store like dollar general. or some tea towels and pot holders to go with it hot tea goes good with honey so what a bout a hot tea box with 2 coffee cups and some hot tea you can get them for about $5 use your noggin what goes good with honey and you can get for a reasonable price. then you have your answer.
I thnk this would be a great gift! Very unique, and who knows, they might even get a lesson out of it! I say go for it- it is the proverbial thought that counts and this is really an excellent idea.
The honey would be a very nice gift. You wouldnt offend them if you simply gave them a card and mentioned how much you appreciate their efforts. Attach a hand written note with the honey and it will be so much better than a mug or note paper or picture frame, which they probably have more than enough of.
I would LOVE that gift!
They would LOVE it !!!!!! A million times better than a $5 gift card.
