I've been doing a little reading and a lot of thinking lately about how moms can help each other out. I have also realized lately that I want to be more connected to other moms. So, here is what I am looking for and wanting to start. I'd like whatever feedback anyone can offer.
I work from home, so social interaction for me is slim. I would like to start a group for other moms where we could come together, share ideas, recipes, childcare, whatever. It doesn't have to specifically be a playgroup.
Here is what I am interested in, let me know if there is anyone else interested in the same kinds of things. I am looking for ways of saving money at home by...fill in the blank; cooking more from scratch; cooking in advance; smarter shopping; do-it-yourself or make it yourself anything; etc. etc.
I have received some great feedback, so thank you to everyone for that! There seems to be a genuine interest in this kind of "mommy group." I would like to have an informal gathering for those who are interested, and for those who would just like to check it out, on Saturday, August 2nd at my house. I'm thinking in the late afternoon, maybe 3-4ish. It's hard to say what the weather will be like, but I am thinking the kiddos can play in the backyard (it's fenced in and I have a little kiddie pool) while the mommies chat. I will provide someone to keep a watchful eye on the kids, I would appreciate it if everyone else would also contribute. I am definitely interested. I am a full time working mom of 3 and need all the support, advice, etc I can get! I don't have a lot of friends with kids, so it's hard for them to relate to me! I would also love to help out other mothers in any way I can. I have dabbled in cooking in advance - so I have some experience with that (I'm not great at it by any means!) I am located in south South County (Oakville).
I am opening a in-home daycare on august 25th. I actually live in imperial but I do everything in south county. i would love to be a part of your group too on the evenings or weekends.
Haha, we sound very similar. I started a home business in April, but it is not a get rich quick, actually it is pretty slow going (but I love it so I continue to do it). But I also watch 3 children. My youngest will be three in Oct. I would love to be involved in some sort of group. We live in Fenton. Please let me know if you decide to put something together.
I would be interested in joining/contributing in any way i can. i am also a single mother of a 3 y-o little girl. I am also interested in how you are working from home and managing. I have the VERY basic necessities (rent, utilities, etc.) and am barely scraping by!

We do a lot of the things you menioned. There are other groups as well, such as MOPS. I am not trying to promote anything, but I just thought I could save you some leg work!

I am in South City right on the border line of South County. I woudl be interested in keeping in touch and being able to bouce ideas and share stories with other moms.... I am also a single mom I have two beautiful babies. My son is 4 and my daughter is 3
