Hello moms....recently I had a sonogram done due to having upper stomach pain that goes thru my back. But the results of the sonogram wasn't what I was expecting. Doctor and I suspected to be gall stones...but it turned out I have a mass on my liver. I am scared to death as I am waiting to have an MRI done. I'm still waiting for my insurance to approve it.. My question is have anyone experience what I have? Is this something I should really worried about? I have four young kids...and I'm worried that this thing could be something really serious.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you everyone for the response. I definitely will keep positive thoughts. Thank you all for the prayers and advice. I will definitely call my insurance and doctors office tomorrow to get my MRI done ASAP. Hoping and praying that the results are not bad. I will update once I find out the results. Again...thank you all!

Hi everyone...had my MRI done this week! And just got my test results. The mass turned out to be benign tumors. I still need to consult with my doctor if they need to be taken out. But wanted to thank you all for all the support and prayers you've given me!

I am not familiar with this at all, but wanted to tell you that I'm adding you to my prayer list. I pray that you can get your MRI asap and that you find out that it's not cancer.

Wow, I have never had to wait for insurance to approve anything the doc prescribed. I think I would be on the phone with the insurance company every day at least once per day. We always just went straight from the docs office and called to make the appointment. We gave them the insurance information and they told us right then how much our co-pay would be because most of the time they were very familiar with most companies.

I pray you are okay and they find exactly what it is and that it is treatable with no lasting effects on you.

Try not to be worried! I remember once I was having head and neck pain and decided to have an MRI done to rule out anything. I was fine during the MRI, but the next day, the nurse called me and said my doctor ordered out another MRI because they found a "mass-like lesion" and wanted to take a closer look. I.was.FREAKING.OUT! It turned out to be a hemangioma (sp?) which is a benign fatty tumor or something.
The truth is, we all probably have strange things floating around in our bodies that won't cause us any harm, so try (I know it's tough to do) to keep yourself calm, it's most likely nothing to worry about. Turn to God when you have fear. He doesn't give us a spirit of fear. The enemy does though and he will play with your mind if you let him. Give that fear and worry to God and ask the Holy Spirit to feel you with peace. I will keep you in my prayers as well.
I agree with the others. Get on your insurance company to approve this so you can find out what's going on. God bless!!
HTH,
A.

I'm sorry this is happening to you and that you are scared. This happened to my sister. She had terrible stomach pain, but her and the doctor thought it was indigestion. Anyway, it was cancer, BUT, not of the liver. She had some kind of Sarcoma cancer, and I will try to describe it. It grew in kind of a long shape , like a pencil. And it wrapped itself AROUND her liver, but was not connected to her liver at all. It was just barely connected to her stomach wall. We were very relieved since we thought it was a mass on her liver. Anyway, they successfully removed it and she has been cancer free for over 10 years. Just pray about it and try to stay positive. I know it is not easy. I will be praying for you too, and let us know what happens.

I do not know a lot about masses on the liver but I do know the liver is one of the few organs in our bodies that can heal itself and regenerate new tissue. In other words if you need a liver transplant, the doctor can take half of the liver of a matching person and implant it in you and it will grow to a full size liver in both of you.

Amazing huh?

I hope you are fine, please let us know.

There are a lot of things it could be..... sometimes things are hard to discern from just an ultrasound.

My sister had a suspicious spot on her liver..... I don't know if they identified it as a "mass" or a "lesion" ....

It ended up being a hepatic hemangioma..... but it is something they are keeping an eye on, nonetheless..... I don't know if she had other symptoms, but she did have elevated liver function numbers... (she is also very overweight and has a "fatty liver"...)

I know it is hard to NOT worry..... there are so many unknowns! Please keep us posted......

Both my friend and I recently had to go have CT's for completely different things. Both of us were told something was spotted on the liver and that we would need to repeat CT in several months to watch. Both of us did as we were told and both of us were cleared.

Obviously I don't know whether you have something to worry about or not, but what I'm saying is doctors really like to cover their behinds these days. I agree you call the insurance to prod them so that you can get your test and find out one way or the other how you need to proceed, but there is no need to assume something bad!

I would do what Gamma G. suggested. With my insurance, the docs tell me what i need to do and I just schedule the appointment. Call your insurance and tell them this is urgent. Hugs and prayers to you. I pray the insurance co stops dilly dallying so you can get your MRI and everything is ok! Keep us posted.

Aww, this makes me so sad!! I don't know anyone who has had this. I do have a friend who has had some masses in her colon and is doing well. She had one removed and one is still to be removed. I am thinking of you and hoping for the best. I do have chronic pain, I'm not sure how you are feeling physically. Feel free to pm me if you ever want to talk about it or vent. Wish I had more knowledge on this.
