Working Mom Looking for Evening/weekend Playgroups

I recently moved to the area. I work during the day and my daughter is in daycare. I am looking for a playgroup for her but everything I keep finding meets during the day. She is also only 9 months old which limits the activities but we need to get out of the house once in a while. Any suggestions? Also, I live in Greenfield, NH.

What can I do next?

Welcome to New England C.!
I'm also a working mom with a two year old but live in Boston (Roslindale) but if you're interested, we could certainly travel!
However, my sister lives in Lee, NH and has a 10 month old - even though she's a SAHM (but wants to work but there's limited work choices in the NH market!) she might be a better option! You can email me offline and I can connect you both via email if you want -

There is a Playgroup that is pretty well formed in the area and I am sure someone can work with you on this:
http://www.nhpeak.com/

The 'playgroups' are for both of you, for your child to socialize and you to meet other moms and build friendships/networks. if anything maybe you can post at the local library about starting up a Saturday morning playgroup for working moms, the problem is most people really want their weekends to be Family Time, but if you just d 2 hours or so on Saturdays at your home or even at the library I am sure you can work it out. You need to work at setting it up and keeping it going. I started a playgroup 5 years ago and now we meet once a month instead of every week..but it is so important for both of you (and your hubby) as it will help you learn the area and be a place to voice concerns for you daughters health, learning, activities in the area and you to meet other moms as your co-workers might not have kids the same age with the same needs & concerns.

You could go to Meetup.com. There are all kinds of groups you can join, and there is one for working moms, this one is in Warwick, RI though. Maybe there will be one in your area. They plan playgroups, and even moms nights out. It's a great way to meet other working moms because it is very frustrating when all the playgroups are at 10AM and you are working!!

Hi C.,

I don't live in your area but I ran into the same issue when our first child was born. I ended up posting a flyer at my daughter's day care. Only one person responded but she brought a friend and we had our first weekend play group. We did it again and one more mom from day care came. After that it fizzled out but I am now very good friends with the first mom I met.

If you are just looking for things to do, I have a web site of things to do in NH with kids. I haven't updated it in a few months since our twins were born but there's still a lot of good info on it. www.kristaslinks.net
