I am proud of you for taking the steps to stay at home. I am currently working a home-based business along with my current teaching job to be able to stay home next school year. I just started the business and am in a contract with a school so I have to wait until that expires.

I'm not sure how much money you would like to bring in but I can tell you a little bit about what I do. I am a stay at home mom of three kids 3 and under. I am a demonstrator for The Angel Company which sells, rubber stamping and scrapbooking supplies. I'm very much into paper crafting so it was a great choice for me because I am doing what I really like to do. You get 30% off, and make 25% commission on sales. There are a number of ways you can do it. I go to people's houses for a "stamp party" and we have fun learning new teachniques and making things they can take home. When we are done, they get a chance to look through the catalogue. Over 70% of the stamp sets we offer are $10.95 and under.

You can also just do "book parties". Where someone can take a catalogue with them for a few weeks and collect orders. They turn them all in at once andyou don't even have to really do any of the work.

These are just some ideas for you. It's one of those businesses that you are successful in as long as you work at it. I am doing MUCH better than I anticipated.

Also, last year I started making soap at home with my girls. We ended up with so much soap, I started selling to friends and family. Now I own a business and sell locally and online.

I've been involved in multiple MLM/Network Marketing businesses. Don't let people scare you away from that!!! MLM is NOT EVIL! LOL One just has to be careful about which company they choose. Do some background checks. Also, look at your local market and see what might sell well. I was with a company that sold nutritional products. The company and products were great but didn't sell well in this area. They were too expensive.

Direct selling is usually involved so if you like to meet/talk to new people, that might be the way to go. I sell healthy coffee for a MLM/Direct Sales company and have been very happy with the company and my sales. It goes great with my soap and I make gift baskets a lot.

Of course makeup is always fun to sell. Mary Kay or Marlo Quinn would be good/reputable companies. Be wary of new companies...I am a member of an online business networking group and they just had a disaster where a lady started a "fake" company and screwed thousands of people out of their money. I am also interested in finding something to do from home. We have 4 kids (ages 9, 7, 4, 3). I started working part-time since #4 was born. We could use a bit extra each month just to get by. Please let me know if you find anything. I will do the same. I am worried about getting involved in a scam. I have looked into a few things but no luck so far. I heard on daveramsey.com that any of these businesses that ask for money up front is probably not a good idea.

First of all, scams are not the best choice of words, besides it sounds like you're looking for something illeagle to do. I have never given the thought, but they advertize selling products all the time. Little novelties and things. They show it on tv all the time and I can't think of the name to save my soul

Saw your post from a time back and thought I'd share with you what I shared with a couple of others. I think this is one opportunity you'd love and wouldn't want to pass up on.

I'm a 39 year old SAHM and love what I do! But, to make things a little easier financially on our family I signed up as an Indep Avon Sales Rep. C. i have been in the same position that you are in. I decided to invest in owning my own Tastefully Simple business. Until the 31st of January to become a consultant with tastefully simple it is only $99. For that $99 you will get your start up kit that is valued at almost $400. Calculating it you would only need to sell $275 to recoup your business investment.In the start up kit there is actually $100 worth of retail items in the kit. I am sure that you have outside sources to sell the products to without even having to have parties, i.e., school, moms group, family, friends. However the parties are Always fun. It is nice to have a get away for a couple of hours with other adults a and you make money just for hanging out with people and having them sample great food. Everyone loves to eat at parties!!
