Isn't it amazing the longing God puts in our hearts to be a SAHM?! I know that feeling well!!! I used to cry after we dropped off our kids at daycare on our way to work. I'll never forget the first day my husband drove off to work without me after I became a SAHM. I cried again but this time happy tears...my kids were in bed sleeping and I thought, "THIS is how its supposed to be!!" That was over 14 years ago. I'm a home-based, home-schooling, work from home mom. And I love it. However it does take some flexibility. You see, when everyone is using the house all day, it gets messy. And sometimes, floors and dishes don't get clean when you have to teach math or reading and then get on Mamasource! But I believe if you make the decision to stay at home and school at home,you will never regret it! My experience is, though, that with a business, you are going to need some day care sometimes. A network of Moms is good, or others in your business that can help out. The message that "you can have it all" is partially true. I really do have it all. I just don't have it all, all the time. If I'm doing meetings, that's the focus for that day. If I have a clean house, kids may learn "household management" that day and not science which is fine. You get the idea. The good part is, for a 7 year old, 2 hours per day of school is probably plenty depending on how you do it.

First I do want to say be careful of work from home scams. Also watch out for businesses that toot easy income, with no selling/etc. There are some companies out there that really sound good, but I've watched people spend a lot of money on both products they didn't really want and advertising to make a little bit of money.

That said, the key is to find your passion. What do you love? What are your skills and talents? For me, my passion is my children, so I sell children's books. I love it and do well, but my heart is in it. :-) I feel good about what I am doing and believe in the product. So keep that in mind.

I am sorry to hear about your job. As some others have said, maybe it is a blessing in disguise. I believe everything happens for a reason; sometimes we don't know what the reason is...yet :o)

I have been scammed numerous times with "online jobs" and "work from home" things.

I found a great work at home resource center called www.sohojobs.org
They research companies and if they are legit, sohojobs.org will allow the company to post their job opening on the sohojobs website.

What is great about this, the companies are actually posting jobs and hiring people to work from home!
We are in the days of "outsourcing" and companies are really seeing the benefits in hiring people to work out of the home...not the office.

I love this, and it has been a real blessing for me and my family.

I too have been a stay at home mom for nearly 2 1/2 years - and in January realized I needed to do something for me outside of the house.
