Greetings mothers! My mother used to wash baseball caps in the dishwasher. I have previously washed them in the washing machine.Air dried them when there was time. My son is currently in a job where he has only one hat (deli) and obviously those get dirty quick. How do you wash and dry caps? I know this isn't a very exciting question but I couldn't come up with any other solutions right now. THANK YOU.
Thank you everyone...I have washed hats for years, but wondered if there was some brilliant quick way to do this. I thought about throwing it into the dryer with some dry cleaning sheets, too. Will let you know if that works. obviously this takes a little time if you air dry, that's usually what we'd do, but the best would be to buy a second one! Happy Day!
I wash them in the washer in a pillowcase, tied closed at the end, same as bras. Then air dry.

Perhaps he can get more than one hat.
One to wear, one in the wash (or drying) and one to spare.
All that washing is going to wear them out anyway.
This way will spread it out a bit and he should always have a hat to fall back on.
Same way, if it's washable fabric. Maybe every other day, gentle wash?
I have a hat form and use it in the dryer. I "don't" dry very much on high heat so it's pretty safe on delicate or perma press. I also have a rack I can put in to dry tennis shoes and hats in frames and they don't rotate.
I always just throw them in the dryer on low or no heat.
I know a lot of people who squirt Dawn dish liquid on the inside where the oils accumulate from the forehead and hair (plus any stains on the top), let it soak for a half hour to dissolve the grease, then wash on gentle cycle with regular detergent. There are plastic forms you can use to dry the hat (air dry is best but dryer is possible) so it doesn't lose its shape. I think the brim material lasts longer if you don't use the dryer.
Soak for an hour in a bucket of Tide & hot water, then clip onto a pants hanger to drip dry. In the sun is good. Doesn't take long for a hat to hang dry. Works with baseball uniform caps.
