I don't but I decided to get everyone Boston Coolers at Dairy Queen (it's a Michigan thing, Vernor's ginger ale and ice cream mixed together - yum! Why the name - no idea!). My 7 year old took a sip and said "oh, damn that's good!" I laughed inside while trying to explain why she shouldn't say that.

My parents have dropped a few f bombs around my kids but I don't think they've noticed.

My mouth ate a sailor and has not been able to spit him out.

I have to Apologize to my kids when mommy says a naughty.

There is nothing worse then giving my punishment for swearing to a six and four year old...but the two of them can come up with some creative swear punishments.

Yes it happens to me. I try not to but there times it happens. I just have tought the boys just because mommy says it does not mean it's ok for them to.

My daughter learned how to curse from listening to me. I just made sure that she knew what the words meant, how to use them correctly, and when it was okay and not okay to use them.

No. I have tried to not use any foul language.

It began when I was in the 7th grade and had a grandmotherly type english teacher. She taught us, "Profanity is NOT a sign of intelligence. Its an indication of someone with a limited vocabulary, that is out of control."

We all mess up, if not in our words, then our actions, and anyone who says otherwise is lying.

I never swore until I had children. I was taught not to swear as a child and I didn't...but my dad sure did. And then I was in the US Army and was surrounded by soldiers who said things I had never heard before...

Swearing is form of growling IMHO. I'm not happy when I stub my toe or drop an entire gallon of milk in the garage and it goes splat everywhere.... a few choice words always come out...but...I ALWAYS apologize to my kids, where as my parents never did.

I had to switch over to "Oh poo", yikes!, Uh Oh, Aye caramba!, Gosh!, Goodness!

It still slipped, but tried to act like I had not said it and not draw attention.

I know it happens to a lot of people! It didn't to me when my kids were little, but that's because I made a decision that if I couldn't say a word around my children I wouldn't say it at all.

It's awkward to have to try to come up with a believable reason a word might be bad to say until some certain age and then is magically appropriate.

But I know I'm in the minority on this question.

lol!.....yes i slip all the time, 3 times yesterday i think. My kids know what are acceptable words and do not repeat the bad ones more than once.

You said DAMN in front of your kid? She's pretty much guaranteed to fail math and start smoking Newport Lights now.

How old is your kid? Honestly, I was never especially careful with language around my kids. Neither of them tried out these words when they were young, nor do they use them now - they are 12 and 16. This is not a major castrophe in parenting, I promise
