Wood Play Table for Arts & Crafts

I'm looking to buy a wood play table for my toddler who enjoys scribbling with crayons, etc. Should I worry that it will be hard to clean? Due to space limitations, it's going to be set up in my living room, so I was hoping for it to stay moderately presentable. Do crayons wash off? How about markers? The table I like best is molded, finished plywood.

The way I look at it is this: (we have child sized play tables for my kids)....
but, if they scribble on it, so what. Just get "washable" Crayola Crayons and markers.
There is such a thing. Easily found.

Next, what I also do is, (I have a huge roll of butcher paper), I put a sheet of butcher paper over the table... and then as my kids scribble or mark it up, I just tear it off and replace it with another sheet of paper. Or, I put the date on it, and save it as a 'souvenir" of their 'drawing' progress and development.

If you want the table to be 'presentable' and all nice and clean... well, that is hard to do, with a kids table for kids' purposes. It will, probably, inevitably, get marked up.

Our kiddie table is a nice solid oak wood table. It is nicely, worn in now... and even marked up. But I can just repaint it or refinish it if I want.
I don't try to keep it all spot free or mark free... because it is for my kids. I don't care, if it is that way, even if company is over. That is just me.

all the best,
Susan

we have a little folding table for our daughter from bed bath and beyond. I love it because I can fold it and put it away if we need the space.

Put a thick coat of polyurethane on it to protect it. And washable markers REALLY are washable.

Oh, my goodness, L., I have had a product in my inventory just waiting for you!!! It's called Doodle Desk just so that a toddler can doodle on it or put stickers on it or paint it, etc. It's their own creation on a durable thick white paperboard, The companion stool (of the same material) will stand up to a not-too-heavy adult sitting on it. I'm downtown if you want to come see it.

we got ours from ikea. its nice looking wood, very sturdy, and wasnt too much money so we dont feel bad when it gets ruined, which it hasnt yet. we reinforced the corners/legs with really strong brackets because they stand on it. by the way, thats why i didnt get a folding table, because i know they are gonna climb on it. same goes for the chairs. we do have folding kiddie table and chairs which i keep away and just take out when we need them, but for regular use, the sturdier the better. and only washable markers of course.
